I Know this subject has been talked about before I tried to go back to the archives but I thought I would just ask if anybody else has this same experience. I was sleeved on Feb 24th and my pathology report just came back positive for H Pylori bacteria I guess from my piece of stomach they sent out. Dr. says no big deal just have to take a cocktail of antibiotics but not yet. Have to wait until 3 months out till my tummy is strong enough to handle them. Funny thing is I have NEVER had any gerd, heartburn, ulcers, reflux ever and now all of a sudden I had a hiatal hernia repair and now H Pylori. I'm so stumped??!!?

I was positive for H. Pylori too...going to the doc in a few weeks for treatment. I think it is slowing my loss...guess we'll find out.

I tested positive also. When I went back for my 2 week check up my surgeon started me on antibiotics. I was fine. It didn't hinder my weight loss at all.

I had H Pylori and a hiatal hernia as well but it was found prior to surgery during my endoscopy. I had to take an antibiotic as well as an antacid for 2 weeks straight. Prior to that, I had no problems or previous stomach issues. My surgeon said it was probably not a major problem and it may have been a long time before it could have become a problem. I'm not even sure how long I had it but I'm glad it was treatable!

I don't understand why your surgeon is making you wait 3 months for an antibiotic. I developed bronchitis 2 weeks after surgery and was put on antibiotics right away. Even after 5 days, I was not better, so my PCP put me another round of antibiotics for 7 days. I still lost weight during that time.

It's not just an antibiotic, there's an antacid and one other pill. The sleeve may not be healed enough to handle the meds at one time.

Yeah doc said its a cocktail of meds. 3 different antibiotics and a strong PPI. He said sometimes it's too much for your new stomach to handle. I guess the little critters are hard to get rid of. I'm not even on solid foods yet so taking some harsh bacteria eaton drugs may not sit well. That's my guess. I'm still worried to let it sit around in there though and I never thought that it may be the reason I'm at a stall. I just assumed it was a normal 3 week stall maybe it's the H Pylori? I wonder if there is home remedies? I read on a post from another site to eat baked garlic and that kills it?? Anybody heard that?

I was sleeved September 2013 and diagnosed with H poli and on my 2 week post op I had to take antibiotics for about 2 weeks it was about 3 or 4 pills at a time. I go for my 6 month in April I want to know how do they know it's gone?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
