I am hoping for approval in May as well. I am just waiting on the insurance company now! I hope to be joining all of you soon! My Aunt just got approved and will be banded on May 4th! Woohoo! I hope to be a may bandster too! Good luck everyone!

I know what you mean about watching the fill and being nervous. I watched the actual surgery on the orlive link last night. Should not have done that!!! However if I had seen one on a c-section I would have probably crapped my pants too, and I have had two of those. I am sure this is a lot easier to recover from than a c-section.

I want lots of stories of everyones experiences as we start getting banded in a week!

Welcome poohlvr! I am so glad your aunt got approved. I hope all goes well with your insurance company! Glad to talk to you on here. -Jessica

Where are you guys finding these videos of fills and LB surgery? I would kind of like to see a fill.

Tomorrow I have my nutrition class . . . .the beginning of the journey. We taste different protiens so I will give my opinion on those later.

I bought this Alpine Vanilla whey protien from Costco last year that has 22g of protein and sweetend with Splenda. I put it in berry smoothies and really like it. I hope I can use it for the liquid part of my pre-op. Can you use powdered protein or do you have to use some sort of clear liquid protein?

May is almost here!!!!!!!

<p>I am the most favorite aunt (<img src="http://www.LapBandTalk.com/images/smilies/biggrin1.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Biggrin1" smilieid="199" class="inlineimg" /> ) of Poohlvr that posted just above. It is still surreal to me that I am to be banded on May 4th....My whole life is about to change and I am so excited!</p>

welcome Granny - that sounds funny since you are only a few years older then me. I'm not a Grandmother yet but sure hope to be soon.

Wow! Next week some of you will be getting your bands! Exciting!! I remember thinking this was taking so long but the closer it gets the faster it goes . . . This is my last weekend to eat the old way (sorry liquid drinkers) I can't decide what to have. Think I will hit cold stone as a farewell to the old way of thinking. That seems really messed up! It was this kind of thinking that got me here in the first place!

Jessica - it's nice that we share the same band day as well as the mom of twins thing. You go girl!

Protien shakes for two weeks, along with water, broth and certain vegetables.

Started that today... I have a headache and am starving... I made up a new word... fungry! Cuz I'm f*^^ing hungry! :biggrin1:

Use that word to your heart's content! Yesterday I wasn't hungry at all and the shakes completely satisfied, but today I'm a little hungrier. I did cheat my first day and had two tablespoons of peanut butter to take the edge off as well!

You're just a week out! Good luck!!

Uniqueone!

How are you doing on the pre-op diet? You're just a week away! Getting any cases of the nerves yet?? I'll be thinking of you!!

May 16th... perhaps. I'm just awaiting insurance approval. My md says that my insurance (BCBS) is famous for rejecting initial claims... but almost always approves on the second (or third) time... so I'm not getting my hopes COMPLETELY up... ok, ok, who am I kidding... it's ALL I'VE BEEN thinking about!!!!

Hey all, My pre-op diet is TWO meals of liquid protein per day, each one must be at least 20g of protein. THEN one meal per day can be meat and veggies. I don't have to go all liquid until afterward. Well, I think I fast for 12 hours beforehand. I have to read my materials to make sure.

Hello All. I got my good news yesterday (4/24) that Aetna approved me for getting the band and my surgery is scheduled for May 25th. I am so excited. I go on the 15th to do all my pre admission stuff, does anyone know what this consists of? I will be on a liquid diet for 2 weeks starting on the 11th, my husband keeps telling me I might have to go stay someplace else during this time cause he knows its not going to be fun to be around me. He must think I am going to be mean or something.:heh:

Well Good Luck to All.

Due to a slow refinance, I had to reschedule my surgery. Instead of May 9th, I'm now May 22nd. Hopefully I'll get the money in hand early and be able to get in right away. I'm going to start my pre-op diet the same time I was supposed to for the May 9th surgery. I only have to do Atkins and I'm an old pro at that diet.

However if I had seen one on a c-section I would have probably crapped my pants too, and I have had two of those. I am sure this is a lot easier to recover from than a c-section.

I'm not nearly as nervous about this surgery than my 3 c-sections. However, the needle is what gets me. I had to be somewhat forced to have my second and third epidural/spinals (the first child I was in so much labor pain at the time, I would of taken a chainsaw to the spine, willingly, so long as it took the pain away).

Where are you guys finding these videos of fills and LB surgery? I would kind of like to see a fill.

If I could go back in time, I wouldn't of looked. I found that interesting video and more on YouTube.com.

I had my nutrition class today and I have two weeks of clear liquids and 60g of protein a day pre-op plus the vitamins. For one week after surgery I get clear liquids only, the second week I add back my vitamins and protein. I don't get to add mushies until three weeks after that so I have six weeks total on liquids. I can't remember how long I am on mushies before I get solids. The nutritionist said it takes one month for your tummy to heal after surgery.<br /> <br /> I went to the vitamin lady after class and bought almost $200.00 of vitamins and protein, ouch! My surgeon wants me to carbon load before surgery. Anyone ever hear of that? After tasting the different protein powders I'm not sure how I amgoing to drink that stuff three times a day . . . it's not that good.<br /> <br /> In my heart I know I need to do this, nothing else has worked but my brain is trying to convince myself that the sacrifice is not worth it. I'm trying to remember that all of this is temporary and eventually I will be back to eating normal . . . just not as much. Oh the struggle.

You are going to be great Wenjea! Better than that, when all of this is over you will look great! I am trying to make more of all our meals now so I can freeze them for Hubby and the three kids for after surgery. I know I will not be able to be around food for a while. I seriourly could see myself crying through some meals at first...........I have to do no bread, no sugar for the two weeks before. Then luquids for 3 weeks after, then mushies for 2 weeks. Then we go on vacation the week after I get to go on solids. Pray for me, I know that will be tough! I am starting to mourn the loss of my friend, food. I just keep telling myself: Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!
