yea- figuring out "full" is still hard. Plus my mouth wants whatever is tasting good so stopping after a small amount is a challenge

I have the same issue, it is hard....this is good that the band challenges these issues that we have made our "norm"

I am with you guys. It is hard to stop eating. I find that I get that full feeling and I only have a few bites left on my plate. So I almost feel funny leaving them there. The band is working, it is real hard to overeat. It is almost like now I have this protective force field between me and food. Now if I can just get my mind to let go of this need to eat when I am tired, bored, watching tv...etc. I have now started kniting to keep my hands and mind busy............anyone need a sweater? lol

Hmmmmmm the "FULL FEELING"!!! When I first was banded...I would eat three, four bites and then I would feel this weird feeling of food coming back up. Well I would look at my plate and think that this is way less than what I normally eat, so I should be able to get it down......right??? Well I would take one more bite and then be miserable for a couple of minutes while the last bite tried to get down. I would get desperate and start walking around, hell I wanted to jump up and down to see if it would finally go down! LOL! Well about a week ago I lost that feeling, so I knew that it was time for a fill! I got my fill on Wednesday and that feeling is back! YEA!!! Last night my husband had queso and chips....I figured I would take a chip dip it in the queso and lick the queso off....the queso was reall runny so I figured it would be okay! WRONG!!! I thought I was going to DIE!! I ended up throwing up 3 times! Each time the cheese would come up in like a ball!! I was miserable!! First time I have thrown up....and it was different kind of throwing up. NO MORE QUESO FOR ME!

I have had heartburn now (for the first time in my life I might add) I did a search on these boards and read where Prilosec was the drug of choice. So I started on that night before last and I went back to mushies and eating slower. I stopped my morning Decaf cup of coffee.

Now here is my question: I am due for a fill next Thursday (my first fill). Is this heartburn anything that will interfere with my fill?

I was banded May 21st.

I have a hard time with the bored or TV watching eating....I like to eat popsicles at night (leftover habit from my quitting smoking days) and it's hard to break the habit of having a popsicle in mouth.....

I know what you mean, when I get the "feeling" I get up and walk and it eventually goes away....my family just looks at me like "where's she going, we just sat down to eat" but I either took too big of a bite, didn't chew well enough or am just full......i'm still able to keep more than a cup of food though, I really thought I'd eat alot less with the band so I think I need another fill (currently have 1.4cc)-I have never PB'ed or thrown up though (knock on wood) but I will make sure and steer clear of the queso!!!!

I found that a fill lowered my heartburn episodes....I read somewhere else on here that it did that for another bander....somehow the pressure of the band keeps the acids down for many people...i'm sure it is different for everyone though.

Hello all , I am a June bandster, posted here a few times, I love reading your stories, because it will be my future, and present soon! I was banded June 7. I had that full feeling twice just with the band, I think I ate to fast or did not chew. I had to get up and move around and finally it went down. As I am healing that is gone, but it made me more aware of what I am doing!

It is interesting about the different fills, times, etc. Just like the different stages of preopt and post opt diets. You are all doing GREAT. I hope you don't mind me checking in!

Of course, check in anytime! Glad to hear you're doing well. My first fill is coming up this Thursday. Just in time for the holiday! That will be great and a huge help because by now (really only a few days ago) I am starting to feel more hungry and I don't want that! lol

Hi All! I am so glad to see how good everyone is doing. We are truly an A-May-Zing group.

I wanted to share something I discovered the past couple weeks. I had been consistently consuming 850 calories daily (and was quite proud of myself). Well, my niece and nephew are here for the summer and I started eating a bit more, for the past couple weeks I've been consuming about 1,000 calories a day. And guess what happened? The weight starting to fall off again. Turns out I was eating too few calories for my activity level (I do something active like biking, jogging or hiking for 1 hour every day).

Just thought I'd post that in case any one else is in my boat. In other good news, I feel like I'm looking at a new body every day. I can't help but keep looking down (because my stomach is disappearing) and it's so cool.

Hey Maryum! I think you are right in that it is helpful to vary your calories a bit so your metabolism doesn't get used to one thing and try to conserve. I vary between 700-1100 with most days below 1000 and that's kept things moving for me as well.

With my job I have to get up early to exercise or go very late.. anyone find that getting up early to hit the gym gets easier with time???

I need a sweater because I'm FREEZING all the time. I always wondered why the "skinnies" were cold all the time - it's because they don't eat!

Our dietician (Phd) is really against the long term super low calorie diets. She says 800 is the absolute minimum and most people should be at about 1000. It's is really amazing how the body kicks into starvation mode, you can eat 400 calories and not loss an ounce. I think especially since we need to exercize to keep our muscle mass up and to tone up as we loose weight it's really important not to push our bodies into starvation mode.

I was very relieved to learn this from her, I sure don't want to continue on the 500-700 calories that I've had on our pre/post-op diet. I'm just starting on mushies/softs and it's nice to be moving towards "normal foods"...in very small amounts of course.

I need a sweater because I'm FREEZING all the time. I always wondered why the "skinnies" were cold all the time - it's because they don't eat!

Oh my gosh, so am I. Freezing all the time, I mean. I bet you're right, it is from eating so differently. How funny is that? I hope I can say I'm freezing next week, we're supposed to get a heat wave here!

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
