Cindy-I think if I went through all of that after reading some of the stuff on these boards I would have had a panic attack. I am so glad everything is okay and you are HOME! <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Deb24- I know how you are feeling! My surgery is on the 23rd and I can’t believe I have no more appointments before then. I do have a lot of stuff around the house I would like to have done before then. I am starting my pre-op diet today and thankfully it is just a high Protein low carb diet. I don’t know how all of those having to do clear liquid pre-op diets are surviving. Kudos to all of them! I find myself not being able to sleep very well because of all the anticipation. Its worse than being a kid and waiting for Christmas morning!

Melissa-O - What about some sugar free Jell-O?? At least then you could get a temporary full feeling, feel like you are really eating something, and have lots of flavors to choose from.

Tami- I had this after one of my c-sections. I placed a pillow on tummy and curled up on my bed with my rear in the air. I know how bad that hurts ;) Also get up and walking! I don’t know if its true but I had heard about drinking pineapple juice to help with it.

Amy- What is the attachment called? I would like to find one for myself, I wonder if they sell it online? I went to Wal Mart yesterday too and stocked up. It was strange to have a whole cart of such healthy foods. I am doing a low carb high protein diet. I also spent a bunch at GNC on protein drinks.

Muse- Why did you switch from Marsden? So far I really like him and his staff. They always get back with me very quickly and are very compassionate. His nurse said any time I need her I can have her paged which is comforting considering how usually you leave messages at regular doctors and wait hours to hear from them. Marsden is a down to earth very sweet man.

To all of you already in band land what web site if any are you using to track your weight loss and or exercise? I would like to find a good free web site to do this on. I am also going to get the measurements from my initial consultation and have dh measure me as I am losing. This is so exciting!!!

Cara- I understand how you feel! I am so glad we finally have a tool that is going to help us be “normal” looking. I wish normal sized people could understand how painful it is emotionally and physically to be obese.

Audreyg - There are "scar creams" available that are probably predominanty Vitamin E creams. When I ran thru a plate glass window in the 5th grade they gave me cocoa butter to rub on my skin...supposed to help with stretch marks and scars and keeping the skin lubed up....

Hi all! Happy Mother's Day!

(KadrianMatthews and Kacee...I was banded by Dr. Spivak on Friday. He is so nice. Overall, I had a great experience at the hospital - ParkPlaza. I would recommend him highly.)

Ok...the surgery went fine. I got to the hospital at 6:30, into surgery around 9:30, woke up in recovery (in PAIN) around 11am. They gave me something in my IV, which helped, but once I got up to my room, I needed some of the liquid Lortab. That took away the surgery pain, but the gas pain was (and has been) AWFUL! I wish I could say it's not so bad, but it was! I have had 2 C-sections and my gall bladder removed (laproscopically), and this was much worse than any of those.

I am able to move around easily, I sleep well, I just can't get the gas pains to go away. They seem to subside after walking and rocking in a chair, but come back full force! Anyone else?? I have been taking Maalox (liquid)...the GasX strips did nothing. It IS getting better, but I didn't think the gas would be here after several days. Oh well...other than that, I feel pretty good. I have lost over 10 pounds so far! WOOHOO!

I have not really had ANY appetite so far...this morning my stomach was growling for the 1st time. I had a cup of Tomato soup...tasted good, and went down fine. I am trying to think of things to eat these next 4 weeks. Dr. Spivak recommends a liquid diet for 1-2 days, then a mushy diet for 4 weeks...ground food, Soups, soft veggies, etc. The only meat allowed is fish. I wonder if I could eat crab meat?? It is small, soft, etc. I make a corn crab chowder that is very filling (I blend the corn, so it is all pureed).

I hope all of you are doing well. It's good to be on the other side! For all of you having surgery soon, just take it easy, walk as much as you can, and have someone there to help support you for a few days. One of my good friends just came and sat with me yesterday while my hubby took the boys to their bb games. She helped me clean up a bit (betadine is a hard thing to get off your skin!), and did some of my laundry too! What a great friend! (I told her she has crossed the line...she has see my scars AND folded my underwear!)

Good luck to all!

;)

Anyone else??

I've had the gas problems too. Last night (4 days after the surgery) I started getting nauseous! I'll have to try the Maalox, cause like you, the Gas-X just isn't cutting it.

I wonder if I could eat crab meat? ? It is small, soft, etc. I make a corn crab chowder that is very filling (I blend the corn, so it is all pureed).
I bet crab would be ok. The recipe sounds great, mind sharing it?

Happy Mother's Day everyone...

Today at 1pm will be my 4th day out from surgery. I am still really sore and need help getting out of bed & chairs. I still have to hold my stomach or put a pillow on it to walk around. I definitely couldn't do anything "normal" yet like others. Gas is still around and hurting but at least I am passing via gas from the down below instead of burps. So that gives me hope that my organs are slowly coming around. I was hoping I would feel well enough by now to go out today but there is no way. Maybe a trip to Wal-Mart and be in a wheel chair the whole time but that is as much as I could do.

I'm trying not to get to down because of such slow recovery but it gets hard.

Hope everyone enjoys their day!

Kitty

I had gas for a long time. Once I started eating mushy foods the gas would come back everytime. Kept me from eating much that is for sure. It was so high in my shoulders there was no way it could find it's way down south. lol

Happy Mother's Day everyone! Even if you aren't a mother to a 2-legged or 4 legged child, you've been an encouragement to someone - and that makes it your day too.

Fourteeners, tomorrow's our big day:help: Full of doubts suddenly but going forward anyway. I'm sure it is just nerves.

I'll be staying overnight at least one night, I'll log on as soon as I can after......

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
