I've lost 105 pounds & can totally relate to that sagging belly skin. I know insurance won't cover this so there's no point in me looking into it. It's considered cosmetic & not necessary. Too bad because I'd feel a lot better about my weight loss without all this lovely excess skin

My insurance is the same way. We documented every time I got a rash and after surgery next week, we will continue. My insurance will cover a tummy tuck and another tummy procedure. I can't remember the name of it.

My insurance, BC/BS FEderal Employee will cover Panniculectomy two years after weight loss surgery, if chafing, infection, back ache have been consistently documented during that time.

Mine too Kristina. I combined the panniculectomy my insurance will pay for with a fleur de lis tummy tuck to help reduce the overall cost. Having the procedure done March 18. Nervous, excited and most of all ready.

It would be great to negotiate plastic surgery into the cost of any bariatric procedure that insurance would cover. The fact is people who choose to have excess skin removed are more likely to keep the weight off. The clinic that did my VSG will also be doing my tummy tuck. I negotiated a reduction in the cost of my tummy tuck for being a "repeat customer". It did feel a bit like buying a car and negotiating the price..but hey..we got there in the end.

I've had my doctor document all skin issues, so I won't have any issues having Aetna pay for my procedure. I hope to have plastic surgeon performed this summer.

I saw the plastic surgeon for the first time in June 2013 which was 10 months post-op. He didn't submit to Aetna until November (15 months post-op) and my surgery was scheduled for December 2013... Took about a week to receive approval in the mail

Surgery was postponed because I ended up with an emergency hysterectomy in December...now scheduled for next Monday, March 17

I already have skin prone to rashes, I also have Aetna, I would love it if they covered a tummy tuck! What kind of rashes should I be on the look out for?
