Why dies my regular dr have a oroblem with protein?

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty frustrated right now. My pcp will not fill out forms for the insure program to see if my insurance will pay for shakes. Says she wants a heart specialist to see me first then meet with her to discuss the shakes she thought she heard a murmur the last time u saw her(which I've been told off and on since I was 18) she did EKG and couldn't really see anything abnormal but still wants a follow-up with specialist. (Now my hubs just saw said specialist at the drs referral to the tune of 400$ since we haven't met deduct able and they found notta)

I appreciate the caution and all but financially I can't do this. I told her my surgeon did an ultra sound on my heart before surgery and saw nothing. So. Why is she so concerned about my Protein intake being what we sleevers have to have it at?????

Beats me as to why all the concern, but as far as the Insure deal.....that's and easy one.....get a different PCP to sign off.

Some pop does not long term high Protein intake cause of kidney damage. Breaking down protein in some athletes or a person who wants to build muscle is so high that it causes kidney issues. But st the levels we eat ..70' 80 , is not considered high. Did u google on website..high jptotein and heart murmur issues.

Although for us 80-100 grams of Protein is a "high-protein" diet (compared to the amount of calories we take in)- it's not high. I know people who aim for +300 grams per day. I'm with Recycled- get a different doc to sign off on it. HAs any other doctor told you you had a murmur? Glad it checked to be nothing though.

Thanks for the replies! I had insure fax to my surgeons office and we shall see. I'm hoping he won't have to see me first too. It's been like six months since I've seen him. His office is so far it's hard to work it out also to get off work.

Haven't had anyone mention the murmur since I was probably in my 30's and was pregnant. Seems like the sonogram on my heart would've shown if there was an issue.

I told my pcp that I drink the Protein Shakes anyways this was just to help with buying them

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
