Recommended Posts

i dunno if youd wanna do that because of your incision scars? uv rays are really bad for them. might wanna wait till they receed a bit before hitting the shake n bake.

your right, I just got a new pool put in and I am really white so I was thinking that I could just cover my scars and get a jump on things. Then I got to tinking about the saline in the band and if it would affect it or not.

I started indoor tanning the other day. Since I won't be showing off my stomach, I put bandaids over the incisions and went about my business. Other than some funny tan marks, all seems good.

I've been using a tanning bed without problem. My scars are pretty "set" (almost a year old now) so I'm not doing anything special to them but overall I've been just fine with the tanning. Except...I still don't have a tan!!! :)

I just pretend I've never heard of skin cancer or photo-aging and lie there and enjoy it.

I dont tan often, as I am frightened of looking like a leather handbag in five years time, but pre summer and for a special event, I love to have an *excuse* to do it. Early on I put bandaids on my scars but I've had two times where I've built up a tan since then and I dont do anything, if anything its faded my scars out and made them less noticeable.

I do love a spray tan too.

I spray tanned last year, because mine were fresh, think I will just let them be this year, and spend some time outdoors!!!! Maybe a few tanning bed sessions....just to get started---I feel like I am not so ashamed of my body this year!!!

We're farmers and I like to tan a little in early Spring so I don't get burned the first full day on the tractor. My doctor said there was absolutely nothing I could do on a daily basis to hurt the band. I listed all kinds of things....tanning, airplane, jacuzzi, public pool, sea doo riding, Water skiing, calf wrestling, fence building, he said it wouldn't hurt a thing.

You are not supposed to expose surgical incisions to sunlight (UV rays) for a year. They will get reddened and sometimes raised. Efricka mentions it from time to time. she exposed her incisions to the sun and got reddened scars.

I tan 6 mins every other day. My scars look better then they ever did before. Most of all its a little time (15 mins) to myself to relax, unwind and enjoy the moment.

I have tanned for two months and haven't had any problems so far. I just can't get regulated either I am to tight or to loose.

Dr. Curry says that the 'opinion' of tanning beds hurting the band is rubbish. Now as for tanning with surgical incisions--I have no idea but would defer to someone who has actually done it and what has happened to their incisions as a result.

Does anyone know if it is harmful to tan in a tanning bed after having a band put in.

I hope not. I have had a tanning bed in my house for 3 years.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
