I came home from the hospital today. Thank goodness! I never started passing gas until late last night, but I just had a BM yay!!

Water and tea stayed down but the nasty lime diet Jello tried to come back up. I talked my self out of throwing up and I'm glad it worked!! I tried a fat free pudding cup when I got home and only managed to eat about 2/3 of it.

I keep sipping on the water but I don't e en know if it's possible to drink as much as they want!

I'm not gonna lie, I had a huge moment of regret- why did I do this to myself?

I must admit, I had the moment of regret after the first few days of surgery and I still am having them occasionally trying to force down Protein shakes. But, we did this for a reason and this will pass. I have no regrets and we are just going to have to keep our heads up. I am 8 days out and it DOES GET BETTER!!!!! It took me about 5 days to start thinking, oh yeah, now I remember why I did this.

I think we all had that moment of regret shortly after surgery, but it passes quickly. Happy for you!

Its super normal.

The day after surgery I really didn;t sleep that night and sorta fell apart, I was in pain from the stupid gas in my chest that I was not prepared for, I was alone in MX ( had an amazing time) my corrdinator came in and rubbed my back and burped me so to speak, said you need a shower and I did get int he shower and felt like a new person, thank god.

That was my only moment of WTF did I do to myself. from that day on its all been flowers and rainbows, I put on my big girl panties and became a much thinner happier person.

Keep your chin up it gets better from here.

I was also sleeved on Feb 24. I feel surprisingly better than I thought I would. When I came around in the recovery room I had horrible discomfort from the gas they use to inflate the abdomen. They told me to walk, walk, then walk some more. Later in the afternoon I was feeling pretty good. I did not sleep a bit that night in the hospital and felt like a zombie the next day. The 2nd day was the toughest for me. I went home around lunch time, slept a little bit and was getting pretty sore by that night. My Dr. gave me a prescription for Levsin- anti spasm med for stomach. That helped a lot. I had already purchased Premier Protein ready to drink shakes in chocolate, but it is quite thick. Today I went to my Dr office where they have a small "store" set up. I bought New Whey Liquid Protein shots in blue raspberry, they are great mixed with Water, much easier to get down than the thick shake. Each shot contains 42 grams of Protein and I divided the shots into 3 equal parts and mixed each third with about 8 oz water, very easy to drink. To me the gas pain was far and away the worse part of the process and thankfully only lasted 4-5 hours. I highly recommend the New whey protein. They were pretty expensive from the Dr, $3.75 each. I found some online and paid just over $2 each when bought 12.

Hang in there, it will only get better.

I was sleeved 2/25/14, but unfortunately my experience I was in a great deal of pain yesterday, I had pain medicine and nausea like clock work....lol

My night nurse was excellent, but I can't say the same for my day nurse, she was a real pain. I have extreme nausea and can't keep my liquids down, my doctor says it is normal.

I hope this vomiting and soreness stops soon :-(

My surgery was on the 25th, I was told it went very smoothly. I felt like a mule kicked me in the gut lol but with the pain meds I was able to cat nap very well. The co2 went into the tissue if my right shoulder and is probably the most painful thing so far. Walk, walk, walk.

the only other issue I've really had seems to be a hard time swallowing my fluids (feels like I'm gulping air when I know I haven't) which seems to also be pretty common. I find it helps some if I'm standing/walking when I'm drinking.

It does get easier. I am 9 days out and I had a tough time in the hospital. I was constantly throwing up and nauseas. I walked around with a cup to spit up or throw up. I couldn't pass the upper GI series until day 3 and that was when the nausea started to slow down. When I was introduced to clear liquid, the nausea was gone. Just remember to sip sip sip and put it down in between sips. I'm a high fan of some black tea with a high splenda in the morning and farina is good with one splenda. The Jello isn't a fave anymore but fat free chocolate pudding is a nice snack to feel normal. The hardest part for me is getting the Protein drink down.

I'm 14 lbs down in these 9 days and that's what keeps me focused !!

I sure hope you are feeling better sweetcheeks. I was sleeved on 2/24, and I am still in a whole lotta pain! This really sucks. I mean really. It hurts to even move. I don't think it's gas anymore, that wasn't really a problem for me. It's from the incisions and the sore muscles. I was totally unprepared for how horrible this was going to feel, and have had several moments since I came home yesterday (and even before) where I have wondered why I ever thought this was a good idea. Hope you feel better soon!

I was also sleeved on the 25th. Not much pain, no gas pains. The nurses gave me anti-nausea and pain medicine like clockwork every 6 hours. I wasn't nauseous at all.

Now that I am home, I have noticed more pain at my incisions. I just have to be careful not to twist or bend at the waist. I'm sipping Syntrax Protein drinks and still feel I'm not getting enough liquids down. I'll just have to keep on trying. The Premier Protein chocolate drinks are still good, but they taste a little heavy to me now.

I gained weight during the hospital stay. Went from 238 back up to 246. I'm thinking it was all the IV fluids they had me on, but now that I'm home, it isn't coming off as quickly. Day 4 and I'm down to 243. That is a little bit unfair I think...lol.

I noticed a bump in my weight as well when I got home and the first thought I had was "heeeeay that's not cool!" but I figured the same as you it was Fluid from the IV. And it seems to be shedding off now pretty easily.

I just wanted to chime in and let you all know that what you're feeling is completely normal! Just give it a few more days and you're pain will be gone. Don't get on the scale, you just got pumped full of gas and fluids-it will not be an accurate number! Concentrate on Protein and Water. Go slow, it will come!!! :). Hang in there-just three and a half weeks ago, I sounded just like you!!! Now I'm back to a completely normal routine and even exercising.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
