Becky, Yep we were there at the same time. I was sitting kind of in the middle. I came in at 3:30. I was wearing a shirt that said "I love Ireland". He did my fill too, and since it was my first one, I don't have anything to compare it to. I just thought that it was really wierd feeling. I was hoping that I had a little more restriction, but I don't think that I do. Plus, I forgot that I was supposed to be on liquids and ate solid foods the next day at lunch. I hope I didn't mess anything up. When is your next fill? Mine is April 14 at the same time!

Terry,

Why do you have to keep getting unfills? What happens when they take out all that is there? I am at 4 cc's for my first fill. He said that I still had 2 cc's in there. I thought that I would feel restricted, but i really don't. I don't think that I can eat much, but I feel like I can eat more than I should. I think that if I could just eat regular portions, I would be doing really well. But now that I have been banded, I feel guilty when I eat a normal portion.

I am going home to Detroit to spend Easter with my family. I am so excited. I am curious to see if they can tell that I have lost some weight. It has been since Thanksgiving since they have seen me, and that was almost 30 pounds ago. I am not sure if I will tell them how. I am not sure how they will react. I can always say I made a lifestyle change.

So happy Easter, Passover, Spring, or whatever makes you happy to everyone! I think I want the Easter Bunny to bring me a new pair of jeans in a smaller size!!

Hi Michelle,

The reason I keep getting unfills is because I was over filled and the doctor is taking baby unfills to get me at the just right spot for the band to work for me. I want to be able to have 4 or 5 bites, be full, but get in enough nutrition, and still lose weight. My views on eating have really changed a lot since I have had the band. It's hard to explain...I think a lot about the amount of calories I'm eating and protien. If I eat a bowl of anything I think I have over eaten. I have just started using this site...

FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal. It is free... check it out; it may help you. I'm hoping its going to work for me.

I didn't tell my family in ST.Louis about my band at first either. Well I finally had to, we went on a vacation together. You probably will still be able to eat just fine with this only being your first fill. You will notice more of a change with the second fill.

Have a wonderful Easter Michelle,

Terry

Hi everyone!! I have some happy news.....THERE ARE NO 2'S IN MY WEIGHT ANY MORE!!!!

I was gone for a week, and unable to weigh myself daily, which Sid said I shouldn't do anyway. And when I got home, I stepped on the scale, because I knew that I had over indulged, and it went down 3 pounds!!! I was so happy!! It almost made up for all the money I spent. Almost!

Good for you girl! It's amazing how that happens ( losing weight when your not home ). How are you doing with your fill? I think I have finally found the Sweet Spot as they call it. Have you checked out the site I was telling everyone about? FitDay.com; It really is nice to keep track of my food, protien, carbs. ect.

Terry,

So glad you hit the sweet spot. I know you were getting frustrated and I can't say I blame you. My loss is slowing down significantly. Not that I'm surprised since I'm 22 lbs from goal. It doesn't help that my period is forcing me to eat Mike Sell's Puffcorn Delites whenever the craving strikes. Have you had those little buggers yet? Don't get started because I'm sure they are more addictive than crack. Oh, well. I'll just have to sweat more to counteract the effect of the sinister puffs.

:biggrin1: Just wondering if anyone is from central Illinois? I'm from Champaign and looking for bandsters in my area. Go Illini!

I'm in Monticello, & very interested in a lap band support group. I was banded 3/12/08 also by Dr. Rohrscheib, everything went great, but I'm still dealing with emotional eating, having a support group would be great for me. Anybody???

Becky,

I don't feel like I have any restriction, except if I am trying to eat a muffin. Gets stuck everytime. You would think that the pain of it would make me stop eating them. Sid told me the same thing about weighing myself all the time. But it is part of my daily routine. The hardest times for me are the weekends, because I keep walking by the kitchen, and then I snack. And the Snacks aren't bad, it is just constant.

Sorry I couldn't make it to Denny's. It is my oldest son's birthday. Not that he really wants to spend it with me since he is 13, but I thought I should be around in case he and his friends wanted a ride somewhere or something!

I am going to call Sid's office and see if I can move my date up for my next fill. Everyday seems like an eternity to me when I am waiting for a fill. Let me know how yours goes.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
