Two days out....Any last minute suggestions?

Recommended Posts

It's Monday evening and my procedure is Wednesday morning. Please let me know if there is anything you wish you had, while in the hospital. Tell me about your hospital stay...mine is scheduled to last until Friday...two nights total. How was your pain? Just nerves I guess. Thanks for anything you can provide... :)

Mines is tomorrow also. And I was told that the first 16 hrs are regretful. But it gets better after that. I was told to bring a cough pillow a rob and slippers.

Don't forget chargers for your portable devices. Once I was back in my room recovering I listened to my ipod non-stop. The music helped me to relax. The only minor discomfort I felt was from the gas they inflate you with. Start walking as soon as you can, it should help to relieve the discomfort. Good luck and best wishes! :) :) :)

Thanks, Trevor. Looking at your profile, it says you're 100 lbs lost and surgery was in Spetember. That's fantastic! How much of that 100 is from your surgery date? My Surgery weight is going to be 305....down from 318 at the start of my two week pre-op diet.

I was 305 at the start of my two week pre-op and 299 on the day of surgery.

Bring a cough pillow, or something to hold against your stomach when you move, cough, or try to get up. I used a folded up hospital blanket, it worked fine. Get up and walk as soon as possible after surgery, it helps keep your lungs clear.

Bring your own cozy socks/slippers. Other than that, enjoy ALL the drugs lol. You will not care where you are or what you're missing :-).

You are so right, I dozed off and on for a few hours then I fell into a deeper sleep, my aunt said while I was sleeping I was pushing the button on my pain pump!

Really good question. I'll be waking tomorrow to 14th day pre-op fast with my surgery this Thursday morning. I've lost 31.6lbs in 13days and I haven't even been sleeved yet. I feel skinny, but boy.. These 13 have been tough. Any thoughts to prevent me from biting bystanders tomorrow and additional advise weathering the surgery or when I wake up at Cleveland Clinic Weston with a tinier tummy. Chargers packed.

I am a week out.

Chapstick!! Your lips and mouth are going to be so dry and I made my grandma leave and buy me chapstick and it felt so much better.

Loose fitting clothes to go home in, and possible a robe of some sort to put over tour back cause they will probably make you walk the halls after surgery.

Good luck on your journey!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
