Is there anything more depressing...

I had my cut chin length and had my hairdresser texturizing it. Gives it more movement and doesn't look sparse. But, I agree, it totally sucks. :(

I'm 3 months post-op and have been drinking/eating all my Protein and taking all Vitamins, Biotin and Omega fish oils and just within a week I've started losing globs of hair, especially after I Shampoo. So I'm washing every other day. I was expecting this may happen, but so emotionally distressing and nerve wrecking to see it come out so much so quickly. I'm totally freaked out. Praying it slows down soon.

I did everything that was suggested - had access to the best products and I still lost almost half of my hair - which is really long - it was so thin I was afraid I would have to cut it.....luckily my connections to the hair industry helped - I did get extensions - not the kind that are sewn in but the ones that come in small clumps of hair of probably 20-30 strands - they are all individually attached to my existing hair - and it has worked wonders. Kept what hair I had from falling out so quickly - I have had a few put in over the last few months to keep it full - and now I see the new growth.....finally!!!

Thanks for this! I am more than likely going extension route!

Whoa!! For some reason, even with all of the research I did, I don't remember seeing anything about massive weight loss!! I expected some, because of the drastic change in intake of Vitamins, but nothing like what is talked about here!!

I had surgery 11/20, so I'm right at the cusp of when this is all supposed to happen. I have a follow-up 4/4, and you can bet I'll be asking the doc about this bidness!! LOL Oh, and I'm off to the store to stock up on Biotin first thing in the morning!!

Also, I started at a lower weight than most who do the sleeve (248) and have averaged 10 lbs/mo. (42 lbs so far), and I'm wondering, since I'm not losing so quickly as some that maybe I'll miss this little gem?

Any ideas?

Don't you believe it. I was give or take, exactly the same weight as you on surgery day. My weightloss has been slower, I've done everything I could do and it's still falling out. I think it's just in the hands of the gods and how your body reacts to the surgery itself. It sucks!

Well, then I guess I know what to expect.

I wasn't really believing it; was mostly just crossing my fingers and making a wish. My hair is already thin and fine, so losing it is going to be dreadful. Summer is coming, so it looks like lots of hats are in order! *sigh* What a pain in the ass.

It is that. I, too have fine hair. I'm thinking a good hatchet job or a wig!

I'm scared. I have always seemed to have a problem with Hair loss and now at 2 months post op If I run my fingers through my hair I can feel my hair break away from my scalp and into my hands. That's scary!! I wish there was something I can do to prevent this from happening. So since I can't, can someone please explain to me why this happens?

I know it's because you are losing weight and eating less Protein than before, but if you don't change the amount of protein you are eating will the hair still grow back? Before surgery I was probably eating 200g of protein a day, now? about 55 to 65g of protein a day. Is it just a matter of your body adjusting to the new protein intake?

Surgery is a shock to the body. It can happen with other surgeries too.

Mine came back in curly. I love my new hair. I was afraid it would come back in grey. Nope. 61 years old, no grey hair, just shiny new curly hair.

Madame Rev, we need a pic!

OregonDaisy... wow, 61 years old and NO grey?? Lucky you! I started going grey in my 30s, and now the only part of my hair that isn't colored is the white streak. When I get in the neighborhood of my goal weight I plan to stop coloring my hair and get a cute, short style with bangs.

That'll be a no. This hair shall stay tied up until it grows back. Failing that - its all coming off...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
