Congratulations Tkauhi - that must be so encouraging. I'm wearing clothes that were too tight for me last year and now they're loose! I've rediscovered 3 swimsuits that I couldn't wear last year - great for the morale and also for getting that exercise in. Haven't bought any new clothes yet - they won't fit for long (she says hopefully!).

We're off to CT for July 4th - my first trip where I'm not in control of food for 4 days and there will be a lot of eating out. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I'm excited but a little nervous too!

Tkauhi

That's wonderful!!!.. isn't it fun to finally want to go clothes shopping again?

Wallflower

I've been also getting random bruising. . I thought I was losing my mind and forgetting that I bumped something. Anyone have thoughts what it could be from?

Vacation time is almost here and the most exciting thing going through my mind is knowing I will be fitting in the airplane seats more comfortable than last year. Little things like this mean so much more to me.

JanetteH

You got this!!.. maybe they will have smaller lighter meal options.

Great job everyone on your progress this far!!

I just discovered the silver lining! I "only" lost 2 lbs this week - but I'm so happy! After being stalled for 4 weeks, a steady 2 lbs a week will be wonderful :)

Hi,

It sounds as if everyone is doing really well.

I think not knowing what size to buy is a nice problem to have but it causes difficulties too. I am not as small as most of you so I am still in big sizes and I do most of my clothes shopping online so it is all a bit of a gamble and I am not being too adventurous in terms of ordering things too small. Also I am buying end of line summer things in sales, which is possibly not a good idea because by next Summer they might be way too big. I have no idea of what I will be able to wear in the Fall either. I am not buying much but just a few things. I am finding that my altered larger clothes somehow don't suit me very much and I am wearing the one dress that I have bought recently all the time.

My weight is not going down very much and some days I lose more than I expected and then gain again. I try not to sweat the small stuff and the numbers on the dial and just appreciate the fact that I am smaller.

I don't think that I am getting bruises though that is interesting, maybe that will happen to me later.

How is the hair loss going. Mine is not too bad really and I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Janette, I hope you enjoy your break. I am eating out quite a bit at times and I just keep to healthy principles but if I have a spoonful of stuff that is not ideal I try not to worry because it is only a spoonful. Have a great time.

Have a great July 4th all of you. It sounds like a great time to be in the States.

Take care

Claire

My hair has been falling out like crazy for a little over a month. My hair was so thick though so no one can really tell. It still took me 3 elastics to put it up Saturday lol

My hair loss is out of control. I hate it. Even my hair dresser was amazed how much was coming out. I just cut 4 inches off to help with the weight (of the hair). I'm trying not to blow it dry or even brush it much, I just scrunch it up and wear it wavy. I know this will pass, but with ~80lbs still to go, it freaks me out a bit!

I just bought Nixon for the Hair loss. Not sure it will help much at this stage but it should help with faster regrowth. My bald spots are pretty visible (super thin hair to start with). I have noticed a slow down with how much is coming out. They say it peaks at six months.. I hope that's true or i will be looking into a wig soon.

My hair hasn't started falling out yet - but I just ordered Biotin online (the nurse practitioner recommended it). She also told me I needed to take B12 (1,000 mcg/day). Anyone else on that?

Claire - I'm still in the "women's" sizes - not shopping in regular stores yet :)

Happy July 4th everyone. I just became a US citizen this year so this is my first as a "native" :)

I take 1000mcg B-12 sublingual daily. My surgeon started me on that after surgery. I also take Biotin daily. I noticed the eyebrows are growing wonderfully. . Lol

Congratulations and Happy 4th of July! !

Hi,

Oh dear the hair situation does not sound good. I have not been told that my B-12 is low enough to need replacements and whether you take it or not seems to depend on that with my surgeon. I have some Rogaine in case I need it which was suggested on here, I bought it when I was in the States last month. I will bear your suggestions in mind for the future. As people have said the Hair loss seems to peak at 6 months, however much or little we all still have to lose. Mine is disappearing a little but not as badly as I feared... yet! I am waiting to see what happens from here. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Janette, happy first July 4th, how exciting!

Take care

Claire

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
