CBF how is the new diet going? Are you allowed any carbs?
I was surprised when I read my diet sheet that I am allowed 70g of carbs a day and around 1000 calories a day.

Mine doesn't seem as indepth a that, just yogurt, milk and clear Soups. I I want a meal then it has to be under 300. What I'm doing at the moment is using up my diet chef meals as they are all under 300.

I am seeing the dieticein tomorrow, so no doubt, where I hope I will get more information and then the following week my surgeon and then we can set a date.

I'm a bit worried about work as we are trying to recruit at the moment but I made the decision that its not my problem and I really do have to put myself first. I'm just trying to work out what to say for the time off.

I was thinking, maybe abdominal surgery and they don't really have to know more than that, what are you putting down?

Hi CBF

I work for myself, but tell everyone, including my customers, that I am having a hernia repair. Also the surgeon has sent me to a dietician to get as healthy as possible for the operation.

I am not ashamed, but there are so many opinionated people out there, that judge and tell you how to run your life. And dare I say it, but some people on here too. I cannot keep up with constantly defending myself so, for my piece of mind, that is what I say. My choice, my life, my future. Everyone to their own, and we should support that.

As for work, you'll work out what's best. And you are so right, you must put yourself first, when have we ever done that before?

Good luck

I have told them I am having an operation and left it at that, I have found most dont push for details but the ones who have I have said hernia operation. I know a few off them would pass judgement so this way is easier and lets face it they never needed to know why we gained weight so why do they need to know what we are doing to loose it.

I am lucky with my diet, I am allowed up to 1000 calories a day, with 70grams of carbs, I am only allowed 1/3 of a pint of skimmed milk a day. For Breakfast I had a boiled egg and a small slice of toast with a scraping of lowfat spread. lunch was 125gr of chicken breast with salad, tonight I am having 125g of ham with salad and then a small fat free yoghurt. I am allowed one piece of fruit or 150ml of fruit juice (no added sugar) a day. I am not allowed root vegetables or sweetcorn but can have any other veg instead of salad.

Well willow, that doesn't sound as bad as I thought it would. My daughter lived on skimmed milk and sugar free jelly for two weeks. Yours sounds much better, less like abuse for two weeks. I think I could cope with your pre op diet easier. Good luck to you, although it sounds easier, and much nicer, you still have to be committed to succeed, keep us up to date on how you're doing plz

I only got my bloody month wrong didn't I! I turned up yesterday on the 18th and my appointment was for the 18th March, couldn't believe I had made such a mistake!!

So they are trying to get me into another dietitian if possible and bring it forward. If they stick to the original dates it will be over 7 weeks on pre-op which don't you think is a bit too long?

Its not too bad although it is taking some getting used to, I have had a headache and have been a bit shakey today so I think its the lack of carbs I used to eat a lot before hand. Its just a case of getting used to it I guess. Upside is I have never been a breakfast eater but I am actually enjoying having a boiled egg, I hadn't eaten one of those for years.
I am not allowed the jelly or a lot of milk, I am only allowed a maximum of a third of a pint throughout the whole day and I have to deduct any milk used for tea from that limit.

oh what a nightmare, have you got your actual date for your operation? 7 weeks on the pre-op diet would be too long.

No, no date yet but it just seems like I was sent a list of what to eat which wasn't a lot and as a bit of an afterthought. I also think they just sent me a copy of a band diet and not the sleeve.

I will wait and see what happens in the next few days as they are trying to rearrange my appointments.

At least I will lose some weight before the op!! lol

Yes you will definitely loose weight following their diets lol. Mine is more choice than I thought I would have but is low carb low fat and pretty bland but so much better than what some have had to endure so its not going to be too bad I don't think. My son was sitting eating crisps before and they were always my one downfall but I resisted lol this fortnight will be the real test for me as there is nothing but ME to stop me making mistakes where afterwards my sleeve will help keep me on the right path.

Good on you Willow,

if you can resist the crisps then I guess you can do anything. Keep up the good work.

Thanks lucky, I have never been a chocolate fan so I find that easy to ignore but crisps were my treat, I used to eat one packet every day (salt and vinegar squares have a lot to answer for lol).

I did confirm if I had to stay on the pre op that long and the answer was YES and that they had sent me the correct diet!!

Good luck all you March Sleevers, mine is booked for April 11th. The questions are constantly going round in my head which usually end up with, is the restriction going to be enough? I'm so scared I'm going to over eat as I have such a bad relationship with sugary foods and always have had. Does anyone else think similar thoughts? X

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
