I was supposed to have surgery 3/19, but an ugly esophageal ulcer decided to mess it up and after a heavy does of Protonix (which I'm still taking) it cleared it up and now 7/17 is my day, God willing! Nice to meet you all :-)

Hi Everyone,

My sleeve is scheduled for July 22nd 2014. Today was June 22nd so I was really crazed all day. I just don't know what I should be doing with myself as the surgery gets closer. I feel like there are things I should be doing - some people have written that it's like planning for a wedding. I am doing my doctor required stuff and finding good Protein shakes - am I missing something???

My doctor does not require any pre-op diet, only 24 hours of Clear liquids just before the surgery. I think this part makes me confused. I don't exactly know what to do with my food. I want to improve each week in the next 4 weeks until the surgery. I want to do a liquid plan the last week to be extra healthy, but it's hard to know if I can do it without support and knowing it's not required.

Anyone else having issues similar to these?

Thanks,

Lori

So, I'm scheduled for surgery on July 2nd at OCC in Mexico, but we decided to visit San Diego for a couple days prior to the surgery and we leave this Saturday. Saying I'm nervous would be an understatement.

I have been on the liquid diet and don't feel like I've been losing enough, at this rate I will make the 5%, but I am disappointed with myself for not being able to reach 10% (I've never been given a target specific to me, just the standard 5-10% of body weight) It is one of the things that makes me second guess my decision to do this - if I can't lose the weight when I'm following a liquid/veggie diet (the closest I've been to 'cheating' is having grilled chicken and ranch dressing on a salad in a restaurant) how can I expect to lose weight after surgery? My body seems to fight me every step of the way.

On the bright side, this process has definitely helped me learn about myself. We went camping over the weekend, and I never realized I had such a weakness for roasted marshmallows. I wanted one so badly, I had to leave my hubby and kids out there and go hide in the trailer before I gave in and had one. Same thing with hot chocolate, it turns out. There have been other revelations like that, but I think the marshmallows were honestly the worst.

Anyone else worried about clothes? Even with the small amount I've lost, I need to keep yanking up my pants  I think I may need to look into clothing exchanges in my area.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
