Went kayaking! I challenge you to a sport!

Recommended Posts

Never thought I would see the day I felt comfortable enough to get in a kayak, but I did! It was exhilerating, to say the least! My daughter is my heart, and she bought the kayaks and pushed me into it, while my husband watched and laughed. He says a few more lbs. and he will buy us a kayak. What exquisite fun! 50 lbs down and I have sat in my easy chair the entire year of 2013, my year of retirement, and watched the year go by, with much sadness. The last couple we knew who got more and more overweight sitting in front of the TV and eating ended up unable to walk, went in a nursing home, and died young. Thanks to the sleeve for both of us, I hope we will be in a kayak when we die! If not, I don't think we will die sitting sadly in an easy chair. So very happy we were sleeved and having a chance to live again!

I love to kayak but due to weight haven't gone in years. You made me want to go again. Congrats and very happy for you.

I hear ya on the Kayak. I have had one for over 10 years and took it out maybe 3 times. I do have a large fishing/ diving (power) boat and take it out alot though. I guess when it comes to recreation for me, I prefer power. I have and enjoy all the guy toys.....Motorcycles, atvs, boats, flying, diving etc. Maybe I just got bored taking so long to get somewhere in the Kayak. I've kinda always hated exercise just for the sake of exercise and having the sleeve really hasn't changed that either. I do go to the gym and ride my bike and walk now, but I consider it a necessary evil.

I'd still rather enjoy my rec time with power toys.

So, I'd have to decline your Kayak challenge.....you'd beat the pants off me. I

Hi, that is amazing! It must have felt exilerating out in the open water! No cares in the world!!!!

I accept your challenge!!!! Myself and a few friends registered for a 5K obstacle course challenge in August. I am soooo excited. I have started going to the gym and working out to prepare myself. There would have been NO WAY I could have done this a few months ago! Thank goodness for the sleeve!!!!

It's all about the fun though. I can't wait!!!!! I included the link below.

No matter what we do, the point is to get off our butts and MOVE!!!! When I get rid of this gout, my goal is to walk. But being on Tarkin Bay in Pensacola, seeing dolphins, a deer at the water's edge, the many egrets, a bald eagle, and skimming the Water in the kayak made me feel giddy with laughter. I am on fire to get back out there! I live in Jacksonville, FL, my daughter in Pensacola. And I FIT in the kayak lol. Fitnfab go for it! Recycled, you are going for it too! Slow or fast get out there!

Congratulations!! I can't wait until the summer. Kayaking is one of the activities at the top of my "To do" list this year. Like you, I look forward to getting off of my "easy chair" and living in 2014.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
