Just Found Out My Doctor's name!

Recommended Posts

Hi my name is DymondG,

I just found out who my doctor will be for my surgery, I am so concerned since I've read some of his review's. He has had some up and down stories, people have complained about his surgery's in the past not being so great and then there are some people that say he has helped them in some of the most tremendous ways, you have people claiming that he did not complete his medical exam in Canada, and has moved to Florida and have been a terrible surgeon, Dr Kevin Hoddinott, is suppose to be doing my surgery and now since I have read the reviews I am having second thought's about allowing him to handle my surgery, is this normal for this reaction? And do you think I should continue with the surgery with the same doctor or a different doctor?

I would make some calls and do some research. I researched my surgeon before making any decision. It's your health and you should be in control. What part of Florida are you in? It should be easy to go the State Regulation website and see if there are claims against him here.

I would also be concerned. This is a huge step, and it's important to feel confident that you are in the best hands. I agree with all above......do your research. And if need be, go to another surgeon with a better reputation.

I wish you all the best.

I just looked at some posts about your doctor on ObesityHelp. There are a lot of negatives on the first page; all in sequence. My impression is that the same person did those postings, using different user names. What they say about him in each post is similar to the one before. People do that sometimes, when they're pissed off and want to scare others away. But you really do need to do some research. Call the AMA (American Medical Association), and if possible, find out what happened with him in Canada. There are some good bariatric surgeons in Florida; many posters on this site live in the state. If there are too many negatives with this doctor, I'm sure you can find someone with a better reputation. I can't emphasize enough how important it is to have a good bariatric doctor and team.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
