If I can wrap up the rest of my consultations soon, I'm hoping for early June :)

Hi there. I'm waiting on approval from my insurance (just checked today and it's still pending, ugh!). The hospital told me that I'm looking at a May surgery if I get approved. Fingers crossed.

Would love to hang around and wait with you all. This waiting is making me terribly anxious.

Yaye for May! :) I just got my exercise and dietary appointments set up for Monday. Everything is going perfectly to plan......SO FAR! *knocks on every nearby wood surface* I'm really freaking myself out about insurance approval though, but I keep telling myself that my surgeon wouldn't have recommended I go through with the process unless he thought I have a good chance of getting approved, right? Ugh I sure hope so!

Right! All will go well! Are you going through insurance? Hang in there...I just keep trying to just go on with my business and not get too obsessed about it all lol. My time will come. I love this site though! Maybe we can buddy up with our surgeries landing so close. May 16th is My bday too...what a gift!

Lmao I just realized I asked if you were going through insurance! What I meant was what are the requirements for yours?

Hi all! Psych visit was a breeze, nutrition was fine too. I liked the surgeon alot and he made me feel comfortable and confident in his skills. I was surprised that some of my tests showed issues I was unaware of- mild anemia, major Vitamin D deficiency, b-12 deficiency, and gallstones. I also need to get a sleep study (to test for apnea) and see the lung doc and have a cat scan to see if the lung nodules seen on my chest x-ray are anything to be concerned about- surgeon definitely didn't seem worried but clearly values a thorough workup. Surgeon does want to remove my gallbladder during the sleeve surgery to prevent future problems. They scheduled my endoscopy for mid-April and said I seem on track for a June surgery (I am not available sooner anyway). Excited to be moving on to next stages!

I just got approval from my insurance, which is BCBS (state), I finished my 6 month diet and had the records sent to my surgeons office and I received a call from them 5 days later and said I was approved! I have an appt set up for Thursday to learn nutrition and said I should be good to go around the 1st week of April. I have my fingers crossed!

Yes I'm going through BCBS federal. My surgeon thinks that I have met the requirements as long as I can get record of my weight watchers program that can count for my nutrition plan. I think that May sounds like a great month for this awesome life change! That's awesome your birthday is in May. I kind of wanted my surgery in April because that's my birth month, but not enough time to get everything done by then. :)

And my insurance requires the 3 month physician supervised weight loss plan including nutrition plan, BMI over 35 w/comorbidities or over 40 (I'm BMI 48 w/ none), nutritional counseling before and after surgery, and seeing the exercise specialist before surgery, and have to have a diagnoses of morbid obesity in the 2 years prior to surgery. I'm really nervous about insurance approval but my surgeon seems confident about it!

Sounds a lot like mine. What state are you in?

I'm hoping for mid-June. I am pretty sure I've hit the pre-op goal weight loss and I have an appointment to see the Psychologist next Friday. From what I understand, the ball gets rolling pretty fast after you hit pre-op goal weight (with my surgeon's group). They might even be willing to set a date for next month, but I want to postpone the surgery because we have a cruise booked for May.

I'm in Nebraska. I think Federal BCBS is the same no matter the state though as long as it's through a Federal employee. Although I know there is the standard and basic plan, but I can never remember which one it is! Lol.

My surgery is scheduled for May 6 but need to loose 6 lbs I know it doesn't seem like a lot but very worried that I won't make weight.... I was told if I don't they will push it to a later date because my insurance won't approve it ... I need of some suggestions how to loose it before my last weigh in April 13 ... If it was easy to loose weight I wouldn't be having surgery I have very high blood pressure and am on I high dose of meds and help would be appreciated

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
