I dont mean to be vulgar but im having trouble pooping. I know its probably because of the amount of Protein im getting in and lack of other Vitamins and nutrients. Any recommendations on what foods i can eat as part of my daily routine to help with dropping a deuce?

I had issues as well until I added vegetables and fruit. I also take a daily probiotic that helps. Good luck, I know how uncomfortable it is.

I have been trying to do fruits im a week in on the soft phase. I just get so full so fast i find it hard to fit that kind of stuff in. I was thinking maybe a fiver supplement too. I had just gone like 5 days and had to take stool softeners.

The doc has me on stool softeners twice a day, plus I drink 2 oz of prune juice at bedtime. Also read the thread about sugar free Gummy bears.

My Nut recommends using Fibercon or Metamucil daily after surgery. Also stool softeners as needed.

Someone mentioned the Smooth Move herbal tea on this forum before I was sleeved, so I made sure I picked some up before I was admitted in case I needed it when I got home. I made a cup with two bags last night before bed and had success this morning. I bought mine at the Vitamin Shoppe. Good luck!

You didn't say how far out you are post-op, but I think we all have had this problem in the 1st few months. I believe it's because our systems are used to handling a lot more food daily. And from personal experience with the Atkins diet, I know that a high Protein diet can make it tough to poop. It felt like I was passing jagged rocks.

I had to resort to Milk of Magneia to get things moving until I started eating high Fiber foods like: green Beans, lentils, yellow squash and spaghetti squash. Up until about the 6 month mark, it was tough going simply because I was not able to eat much more than 1/2 cup of food per meal.

Now a days, the majority of my meals are 1/2 meat and 1/2 beans/lentils and a few vegetables here and there.

I have a few days left of my soft food phase. I just hope i continue to lose fast. Ive also been doing weight training and cardio at the gym the last 2 weeks. If i can lost as quick as you i can spend the next year alot less stressed out about fluctuating weight. Whats your diet like?

Hi Jim!

My program focuses on Water intake, Protein intake, and consuming less then 10grams of sugar in a drink or food. If it has 10 or more grams of sugar it's a no go for me. Breakfast is usually a Fiber One Protein Bar, or a shake. I use VI Protein mix which you can only get online, it taste great. I mix that with a scoop or two of Peanut Butter, and some skim milk. My lunch and dinner vary, but I have been on this tuna kick lately lol. They have so many different kinds, I'm a HUGE fan of the spivey tuna that's in a really small can and it comes with crackers. It is very high in protein and I just throw the crackers out. I still go out with my friends to lunches and dinners, I usually will pick off a friends plate, or just order fish and ask them to put the sides in a to go box, not on my plate and I give them with whomever I am with to bring home for them. As for working out, I do basic. I got an ab roller plus online and use it a little bit every day, not long. It's very basic, small and easy to use. U actually use it sitting down lol. I just started using the five pound weight and I just do little arm exercises with it when I am watching a show. :-) Sounds like you are doing great! Keep up the good work!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
