Stalled..So frustrating

Recommended Posts

I am 14 days out and stalled. Haven't lost anything in three days. I'm exercising and following my diet perfectly. Getting enough Protein and Water in. What else should I do?

I had my surgery on December 17th and I stalled toward the end of my second week and through my third week. I finally started losing during my fourth week. I was doing just as you good with Protein, Water, supplements, etc and still didn't lose. Just keep doing what. Your doing, your body is adjusting and the pounds will start to drop soon.

Did same thing, started losing again on 4th week. Stalls are very annoying but even tho scale wasn't moving, I felt clothes getting looser.

I said the same thing yesterday.. Did I do all this for 20lbs? I was sleeved on the 12/26. I haven't lost any weight in the last week and it's kind of scary. I try to do everything right.. I won't say I do because I know I mess up sometimes but really? Do these stalls happen to people losing weight other ways? I haven't heard or experienced it so I was just curious why with WLS?

I had these stalls doin Atkins, weight watchers, etc. your body is adjusting. They do go away. But they are a major pain! Hang in there.

Stalls happen. This is about more than losing weight. It's about getting healthy. And it's about keeping the weight off, finally. I have gained and lost hundreds of pounds but I hope the sleeve is my tool not to regain. Good luck?

Don't worry about stalls so early in the process. Your body has to adjust to the new, tiny amount you're eating. It's impossible not to lose weight when eating so little. Try staying off the scale, weighing only weekly ( advice which I cannot make myself follow, lol). It will happen!

I agree. So early in the process your body is still freaking out and trying to figure everything out. I had a 3-week stall right between 3 & 4 months post op and I just decided that i wasn't going to freak out about it because I really had no option but to keep doing the things I knew I needed to do. After 3 weeks the scale started moving fast and furiously again. Hang in there!

I was sleeved on Dec 16th & stalled between week 1 & 2, then I have been on a 3 wk stall between week 2 & 1/2 & wks 5. & 1/2. Just stayed on program & dropped 3-4 lbs today. I will say that during all this time I was losing major inches & dropping clothes sizes!! Hang in there, I'm glad I did.

Just be patient. Only weigh once a week or less. Get in your fluids and Protein. Stalls are horrid, but you'll get through. Do something nice for yourself, get a mani pedi or a massage ;)

Be patient. I'm saying this to you, as I am to me right now. I wrote earlier today about my two stalls (in 7 weeks) and today my head wants a big meal. See my post "My head wants me to eat..."

I didn't stall til my 4th week, but everyone is different. Make sure you're getting in your Protein as best you can.

I told myself that my body is probably saying, "Hey, wait a minute, now! What has happened to our food!!!? You think you're going to lose weight? Oh no; no no. You know we're used to being fat and holding onto every calorie."

So, the battle is on. But we will have the victory over the pounds. SO to me and you I say...be patient. It will happen. Look at others' before/after pics for encouragement.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
