Sleeved Monday Morning - Feels kind of strange

Recommended Posts

I remember being prepped for surgery, and waiting a while and then they rolled out of the bay I was in and I have absolutely no recollection of anything except when they rolled me into my recovery room. Everything went so fast, I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone and wondered if I had done something I might regret later. I hope not, which is why I am determined to follow all of the instructions. My abdomen still looks and feels like a balloon. Now that I'm on Clear Liquids it feels strange going down, I can hear where the liquid is inside after I swallow. I wonder if this will go away? I've taken all of the supplements, Gas X, Prevacid, blood thinning injections...all of it but I can't tell if my stomach is growling for food or if I'm having the head hunger I've read about on these boards. It's nice to be home, but I haven't been sleeping the whole night through and this makes it difficult to navigate around in the dark so as to not wake everyone else up.

Weight loss stats are not even worth typing. Hopefully this will change with time and increased activity. Any suggestions for those of us just sleeved this week are appreciated. Thank!!!

this all will pass. just wait until you are 2.5 years out like me and you forget 98% of the time you were sleeved.

Actually... I noticed I felt significantly better about 3 weeks out, then at 3 months. Its a new normal. Everyday seems to get better. At 1 year i felt 100% normal, except I ate 1/3 as much as before. :-) It's all worth it in the long run, your new life has just begun!!

I'm on month 13 and I can still remember my 1st week post-op. Just keep walking as much as you can, wear the abdominal binder if they gave you one, and focus on getting in enough liquids - then Protein. It gets soooooo much better after the 1st week! :)

All the advice above is golden. Im 3 months out and except for my tiny meals I pretty much feel normal now. Going back to work at two weeks was hard but I have a very active job. With the exception of the first few days weeks 2-4 were the hardest because I had a very hard time keeping hydrated. So make sure you get all your Water in even if it's hard. Best of luck!

Thanks for the advice everyone!

I'm definitely better today. sleep has improved and I made myself a checklist in Excel to keep track of all of the medications, Vitamins, activity that are required daily. I am working from home but only for half a day. I'm expected to be back in the office on Monday. Its a desk job so it shouldn't be too strenuous. Pounds are coming off and generally speaking everything is just fine. Still feeling a little bloated and my abdomen seems a little distended, but I'm hoping a nice walk will help some of that.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
