I have about 10 lbs to go for my personal goal weight, however, luckily, I have no excess skin to worry about...however, my complaint is sagging boobs..lol

I can so relate to the stress thing-if anything gets on my nerves even a little my stomach will shut down-this was definitely not the case before surgery

I know the feeling my stomach won't allow me to eat when my nerves are bad so I just stick to liquids during those days.

When I began to lose, I started shopping at a really nice thrift store, buy a few pieces at a time, buy your actual size so when you look in the mirror you can notice the difference. I noticed when I continued to wear my big cloths, I looked sloppy, you know what I mean. So yes, every 10 or 15 lbs you lose, buy that new size.

Yes, I know exactly how you feel. My husband says I look a 1/3 of my original size, but when I look in the mirror, I still see myself overweight, like I haven't lost much. Or as I go about my day, I feel very heavy and think "oh no, I'm gaining weight!" I think because we have been trapped inside of our larger selves for so long, that it takes a long while to realize that we are changing or have changed. I struggle with body image alot now, almost obsessively. I think there are a lot of us who feel this way. Keep up the great work!

Hello Everyone,

I had my surgery 11/29/12 and I'm still in the journey...have not quite made it.

Mine is a little complicated, started with the lap band had complications and ended up with the RNY.

I have lost 85+lbs with the RNY...but I still have another 25-30lbs to lose.

I am wearing a 16 currently....my goal is 168lbs.

I am originally from Chicago, but now I live in Raleigh, NC.

I still struggle...old habits die hard!!!...urghhhh!!!

I am still able to consume sweets...I hate it...it is my very biggest weakness...I eat very few breads/or rice/potatoes, etc...and I drink unsweetened tea and coffee mostly...I don't really care for artificial sweetners

That's my story in a nutshell

Hi everyone,

I live in the Washington DC area and was all set to get a gastric sleeve earlier this week. I'd been working towards this for a year, only to find out at the last minute (I had already started my pre-op diet) that my insurance won't approve the sleeve, but will approve the bypass.

I originally didn't want a bypass -- i thought it was too scary/too extensive. Now that I know it's my only choice, i'm coming around to the idea and just found this forum. If I give my doc the go ahead, I can probably get on the surgery schedule for April.

Any encouraging thoughts would be much appreciated. Are there any DC ladies here?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
