Help? Surgery 3/21 Very Personal Question!

Recommended Posts

I was told to stop my bcp a month before surgery because the hormones could cause bleeding problems. I really didn't care why, if they wanted me off them, then I was off!

I was not told to stop the pill...? hmm weird, he actually said you might want to double up on bc because you will become more fertile!

I had my period and I wore a pad. Someone advised against a tampon because it might be difficult to remove after surgery (reaching issues). I'm glad they said something, because it would have been difficult. Ask your dr. if you can wear a pad with your own undies or they may provide you with the mesh ones.

I had my surgery last Thursday, and only had to stop my birth control pill the night before (Wed.) through Friday.

NOOOOOO I had a Tummy Tuck and Had to go off the birth control pills then too! It increase your risk of blood clots and that is why they tell you to stop smoking too! Please listen to me! If you dont stop you can be putting yourself in a life threatening situation! I stoped as soon as I started seeing my surgen and all that, since I wouldnt know how soon I would get a date.

I thought my period had ended, but the day I checked in for surgery...there it was. I told the nurse, they gave me some of those mesh undies and a pad and that was all there was to it. They don't want you to use your own undies in case they have to cut them off. The mesh ones rip off quite nicely, LOL.

I was told I would have to reschedule if I had my period...it was fine and I didn't, but they made a point to tell me I couldn't have it...hope it all worked out for you.

Wow - weird! My dr's office said it happens a lot. I would imagine about 1/4 of the time, if you run the numbers <g>

No underwear for me either. I got my period the day after surgery...was a little nervous to see blood in the toilet...then I realized what it was. :bolt:

I worked in the OR and it won't matter if you are on your period or not. They will probably ask you to wear a pad, but you definitely won't be allowed to wear your panties. Just mention it to the nurse who prepares you for surgery - she (or he) will take care of you!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
