Hello all,

I am a week post op from my gastric bypass surgery at Forest Park Dallas. I have lost 10 pounds so far and I am now pain free. I am amazed at the progression I have made in such a short time. I could not be happier, and I am ready for this journey to begin.

I have been heavy all my life, and was the kind of girl who was always told, "You have such a pretty face, if you could just lose some weight." I was always thankful that if I had to be fat, at least I was pretty!! I am the "healthy fat" person; no diabetes, BP, cholesterol, heart issues at all. Most of the reason I chose to have the surgery was pure vanity. I have never been able to shop in a normal store, wear teal summer clothes, a bathing suit, fit in a bathtub, not have my thighs touch, and a whole miriad of other things that I want to do before I die, lol! I am tired of being hot all the time, sweating while I am getting ready for work, and always being the fat friend. However, I do have a family history of all the things mentioned, and I do have a 3 year old son to raise, so here we are!!

I am now at the lowest weight I can remember which was in 2005. I have no idea what I am going to look like when this is all over, but I am ready for the ride!!!

Welcome and congrats! I was sleeved at Forest Park in September. What a great experience that place was! This is a wonderful resource so I'm glad you found it. There are some local support groups too that you might be interested in. How great that you did this in December; your 2014 is going to be awesome!

Who was your doctor?

I had rny in July 2012. It was the best decision I have ever made. Dr barker did my surgery and his team has been wonderful!

I would LOVE to join a local support group. I am out of Dallas though, I am in S. Arlington. Anything out this way? Then again, if its a once a month deal, driving to Dallas area is not an issue ????

Congratulations on the beginning of your new journey! So happy to hear things are going well for you(:

I've been looking into the forest park center as I'm beginning my journey and would love to hear how your experience was with them! Who was your surgeon? Also, About how long from your first consult until you had your surgery?

Sorry for all the questions, but it's rare I ever find somebody local on here Lol

Your story sounds similar to my own. I also had no health issues and was always told how pretty I was as well. I did the Dr. Phil Ultimate weight loss race 2008 and lost a whooping 90lbs but it was very short lived due to gett ok ng preggers in 2009. So back to the struggle I went and then as i began to lose weight again 217lbs i discovered i was preggers with baby #3 and after having him my body was stuck at 269 until now. RNY saved my life!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
