B-52 thanks for your reply, can you tell me why you might have done the sleeve instead? I will talk to the doctor about all my options as you sugested.

Thanks

I don't know all that much about the sleeve....but it would appear to me there s less maintenance involved...no fills and adjustments which it seems people with the band are always struggling to get it adjusted "Perfectly"

Also, I have been banded for 3 years...I am VERY PLEASED....but I am always fearful of complications such as "Erosion" which along with other possibilities, can be very serious....

But like I said...I am not knowledgeable concerning the Sleeve, and not sure what complications and maintenance is involved with it....

I also do not know the success rate with the sleeve....I am 100% successful with the band, and for me it has been a very easy, simple process....would it have been the same with the sleeve? I don't know.....but idf I ad to do it again, I would do more research.......

I also do not like this big lump sticking through my skin....I cannot wear tight shirts because of the sight....not a game breaker, just annoying.

Thanks again for all your advice.

I went yesterday for my "orientation" it was a one on one with the doctor. I was told that my insurance had already been contacted and that I only needed to get an all clear for sugery from my primary as well as a my history of being over weight for at least the past five years. The doctor told me that there would be a two week liquid pre op diet and that the surgery could happen in as little as 4 weeks from now. I will also have to see a nutritionist (19th) and a pcychiatrist before hand.

That is a lot faster than I was expecting wich is great, I suspect that it will go slower than that though.

I made a doctors appointment with my pc doc for monday, does any know what exactly I need to ask him for to give to the clinic? The lady at the clinic was not very clear and she was busy so I did not get a chance to ask her.

Thanks again for all the help

My pcp needed to request a chest X-ray, EKG and blood work. That was part of the form my surgeon gave me to use. I'm not sure if it's a safe assumption for you. Maybe call your surgeons office and ask what they require.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
