My doctor's rule is 18 months before getting pregnant because that will give you time to get your optimum weight loss. If you get pregnant before that you will have to change your eating habits for the baby's sake and you will lose out on all the perks the surgery gives you in that time period. It's just something to consider. And the thinner you are when you conceive the easier the pregnancy will be on you and the baby.

I have been using a stick blender to puree my food. I did it with cottage cheese and then put in back in the fridge. It set up and got nice and thick.

Tonight I'm gonna try some tuna mixed with cream of mushroom Soup and blended up. Kind of like the old tuna casserole without the noodles,

Last night I had some fat free refried Beans with a few tiny shavings of low fat cheddar. I put that on top and melted it in the microwave. It was good and I'm not that big a fan of beans. It was so good to have something to eat that was NOT sweet!!

Anyone else want to share what they've been eating on "PUREE WEEK"?

Omg hazel, I had the same thing yesterday for dinner, refried Beans with cheddar cheese melted on top yumm!! My husband is Mexican, so it was nice to have the same thing for dinner lol

today I blended some chicken with some stew beans, and it when down a lot easier...I have to start blending more my food instead of mashing them with with a folk and then chewing them like gum....

My tummy is happier :)

Thanks for the advice on ttc :)

I'm so excited I had potato Soup for dinner! 1/4 of a cup but it was so yummy. Are any of you doing a 1/2 cup? I couldn't do it longer than 20 minutes. And I just couldn't get my 64+ gm Protein in today. But my tummy is happy!

I can only eat 1/4 cup also. So you're in good company. It's pretty hard to add stuff together when you can only have that much, and it's hard to blend it too. I don't want to make a big batch of something and eat it for days.

I'm not allowed potatoes or any high carb foods. My doctor is really strict. He doesn't want us eating carbs to set us up for craving them again once we get to "real" food.< /p>

I'm still taking in two Protein Drinks a day for my Protein. No way can we get in much protein with only 1/4 cup.

Has anyone else tried eggs? I tried them my first day on pureed foods and they just didn't set right with me. I made them scrambled and then blended them with a little milk to make them moister.

Hi I've had a tiny few bites of mashed potatoes but they were very filling with no nutritional value! I haven't had anything bother me yet I add a little milk and cheese to my eggs and can now eat one egg but it is sooo filling! Have you tried avocado yet? I just got approved for soft foods like cheese eggs yogurt soy and skim milk but your right it's hard to mix when you can't eat very much of portions! I hope your able to enjoy those small amount of foods I'm still struggling with my protein :( as any Protein Shake makes me nautious and get sick! I'm worried about Hair loss without the protein! I just started my Vitamins are you taking the multi Vitamin with Calcium and Iron?

I started my chewable vitamins on Monday. I get them from the doctor and they include everything I need except I need to supplement with extra Vitamin D. I'll start on soft foods this Sunday. It will be nice not to have to blend everything. That gets old.

I've got some unflavored Protein Powder and I mix that in with sugar free pudding or in yogurt, etc. It doesn't change the flavor that much and it's a way to get it in. You could mix it into Soup also. The Pure Protein drinks are good too. I like the chocolate. You can get them from Sams or costco and I think even some of the grocery stores and pharmacies sell them in smaller packs.

I'm learning that the key is when you eat puréeds, try to eat Protein rich foods unless you have some protein powder to mix. It was difficult at first for me but I found some neat resources online. So like for Breakfast, I had cream of wheat with 1 scoop vanilla protein power, 1 cup of free milk and a touch of cinnamon. It's really good and got me 18g of protein or so.

For lunch - I mixed 1 package of tuna (16g) protein and fat free salsa and cottage cheese (6g) protein. So that's about 22g for lunch. And I've been sipping a 30g+ smoothie all day and still have dinner to eat.

Online has sooooo many diff recipes and ideas for trying to reach protein goals. And having a high protein smoothie or drink with 20+ grams to sip or drink all day helps to reach the 65g goal!

My doctor is REALLY strict. I'm not allowed cream of wheat...too many carbs. And 1 cup of milk would be more than I could handle at one time. And I could never eat a whole package of tuna with cottage cheese and salsa also. That's way more than 2 oz. in the tuna alone. So the most Protein I can get with food is maybe 6 grams in 1/4 cup. If it's a dense food like Beans, I can hardly get in the 2 oz. before I'm full.

My doc wants me to eat the 2 oz. and then that's the end of my meal until the next meal...3 meals a day, no Snacks and no finishing what is left unless it's for the next meal. I have to finish my meal in 30 min. All I can have between meals is Water, protein drinks and sugar free drinks and popsicles.

So the only way to get in my protein is in the protein drinks twice a day.

Once I can eat food that's not pureed, I'm sure I can get more with eating things like chicken and ground beef.

My pouch is supposed to stretch to eating 1/2 cup at some point...not sure when. Then maybe at the end up to 3/4 cup. Compared to what I was eating, that's not much, so the protein has to be front and center.

It seems like a lot of other doctors are much more lenient. Are people really eating more than 2 oz. at a time?

Well of course I'm estimating but I think I eat around 2-4 oz per meal... It depends on what I'm eating and how well it's puréed. I've never been able to eat my whole meal of course and Whatever I hve left I throw out or I'll try to eat it for the next meal if I want it.

How is everyone doing?

Why is everyone so quite...we can do this ladies!!

Well, I think im in a stall, haven't lost a pound in one week...

I throw up 8 times on Saturday, when I almost didn't ate anything, the only new thing I did was that I drank Isopure coconut juice n my stomach just went crazy the rest of the day :/

I tried the alpine punch last night, just a few sips, and my stomach was like, are you for real lol

I DON'T LIKE ITT!!!

I will try it again in a few days/week....

The coconut taste horrible, but the alpine punch is delicious...but the best thing is that it has No Carbs, 160 calories and 40 Grams of Protein in a 20 oz bottle...

I bought it at GNC $4.85 a bottle...n they have a sale buy 3 n get one free!

I just took out the membership card, so it might be cheaper next time.

Hi everyone, I had my surgery a few weeks after most of the people who replied. But, I would love to keep up with all of you as a glimpse into what I have in store.

I am a former band patient who had to have my band removed due to complications. After several months, I decided to have the sleeve surgery -- surgery for me was 1/28.

I am now almost a week out, still on Clear Liquids hoping to add full liquids after my post op appointment tomorrow. REALLY excited for this. :)

Knowing that all scales are different, I am showing 10.2 lbs lost on my home scale. We will see what the official word is tomorrow. I know that some of this weight might be Water weight or temporary weight loss from surgery, but it is still exciting to see progress.

Looking forward to reading more about all of our successes!! :)

Mjm - I tried the Isopure. I mixed with Water and drank half now and half later. My nut says 40g is too much ... Even to sip. They're ok though.

I start soft foods tomorrow! Lost around 4-6lbs last week and started the elliptical Thursday. I did about 30 mins but Friday only 20. Today I'm gonna try for 20-30 again. Feeling good, I go back to work next week!!!!! Still trying to get the Protein and fluids in. Work in progress.

How's everyone else?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
