Very sore abdomen. especially left side. Any suggestions?

I'm only 2 days post op but I'm finding it hard for me to get around because my left side hurts so bad. It is also really swollen. They told me it would hurt worse but the pain med would help. Not so much. All the pain med does for me is put me to sleep.

sleep is good. You just had major surgery and they pulled a huge piece of stomach out of that bigger left side incision. It will be swollen and twinge when you move certain ways. You have a huge line of staples that will start to grow scar tissue over them in that same area and then down toward your belly button. Resting for 2 to 3 weeks while this happens is exactly what my doctor ordered and what your body is going to need. Oh and by Day 7 or so you will feel much better, but give yourself a break at 2 days post op and let your body heal!

Mine hurts more on the right side, pain meds do help but still having a hard time finding a comfortable position to sleep, using lots of pillows n walking does help, am 4 days out.
