December post ops

Wow I wished I could have soft food! I am on oureed food til jan 2 and it's very hard to find something I like! I am having problems sleeping anyone else? I find myself with about 3 to 4 pillows under my head!

It's bitter medicine, but I bite into two generic benadryl gel-caps at bedtime. I suck out the benadryl and spit out the gel-caps. That helps me nod off. I'm also on pureed foods now until the 15th. I called the bariatric nurse and she said it's still most important to get in the liquids each day. More important than getting the "meals", pureed or otherwise. I also try to get the Protein Shakes in too. I hope that's helpful to those who need it. I found out my nausea and cold sweats were my body's version of dumping syndrome. I'm still getting used to how much to sip at once. Anyway, I hope for a wonderful family filled Christmas to all! Merry Christmas!

I dony have a dipping problem it actually doednt even take me a whole hour to get down 4oz. I dont have tightening in my tummy either. My problem is gas.... I burp a lot. It rarely comes out the other way. It hurts! The only problem I have with getting enough liquids in is that I forget to eat. I was like that way before surgery though. I have finally put a timer on my phone to remember its really only day 2 home (came hone sunday but it was after 7pm and i went to bed) and day 4 post op. Is something wrong with me? I dont get nauseous or tired since I stopped taking pain meds.

I liked pea Soup, hummus, yogurt, broccoli cheddar soup, refried Beans thinned with broth, Tomato Soup w/a little cayenne pepper, and laughing cow cheese. You could boost Protein by adding unflavored protein to these foods, but be careful let them cool a little first. I found that the protein made hot foods a little foamy and didn't like the texture. Someone also had an awesome ricotta cheese recipe that's good for pureed stage. You might find it in the recipe section?

I was told to use children's liquid benedryl - it's much easier to get down. I buy the cheaper generic form at Walmart. I still take it if I have trouble sleeping.< /p>

I've looked for the children's benadryl at Wal-Mart. Can't find it. I'll have to try Walgreen or rite-aid.

I know you are newly post op, but you might want to try drinking just a bit slower so you don't swallow any air. I remember I had to be extra careful with that in the beginning. Just concentrate when you drink so not to allow that air in. 9 months later I still get air in sometimes when I swallow and boy do I feel it! Good luck with your recovery. :)

I live on Greek yogurts. Love them. I also like Tomato Soup. I find applesauce is a good snack. Split pea Soup, broccoli soup, and potato soup. My nut did say to only use red potatoes. Oh another one of my favorites is baked sweet potato. Sometimes I will treat myself to a smoothie from smoothie king called the gladiator. It has a killer amount of Protein in it and you can add two fruits to it and it has the least amount of calories of them all. I too was having a drinking problem with getting in too much air. So I talked to my doc and my nut and told them that I had been doing the big "no no". I started drinking through a straw. It made a world of difference for me. So they fuss at me all the time, but like I tell them it works so why bother fussing. I had my surgery on the 10th and I to am still having problems with energy. Also something that just started within the last few days is a little depression. Over silly things. I get really emotional really quick. Anyone having any issues with that?

It's not with regular allergy meds like you'd expect. They keep it with all the children's medicines. :-)

Once I was very thirsty and I drank too fast. I was in pain for several hours. I thought I really hurt something but it eventually eased up and went away. First and last time I ever did that! :-p

Does anyone else have to have a stupid tube that leads to your big old stomach for six weeks? I have one, and it is the main source of my post-op pain. I hate it. It hurts when i laugh!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
