My lesson learned is that no matter how prepared I thought I was for WLS..I did not know anything until I experienced it myself...And I am still learning!!!!!!!!!!!!

I learned just how important Water is. Two weeks of fatigue, pain in my side and back, shoulders that felt like I was carrying weights on each, Constipation, headaches, and a 2-week stall in my weight loss. After my doctor told me I was getting dehydrated and all my symptoms were related to that, I started drinking my Water and 2 or 3 days later all my symptoms were gone and I lost 3 pounds.

If you are out shopping one day, and your tummy starts to rumble, immediately head for the head. Do not let yourself think it will go away in a few minutes.

I've learned to really take my time to eat and to not be distracted while eating. If I don't, I eat too fast or too big of bites and it all comes back up.

I've learned that I need to remind myself to feed the kids and family!

I have literally skipped a meal here and there, then wondered why every one was so cranky!!!! Oh that's right, mommy forgot to feed you! OOOPPPSSS!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
