I kind of felt that way too. It wasn't comfortable to drink. It is most likely the swelling. However, if you don't get relief soon, please get in touch with your doctor.

I have my family but they just done understand what Im going thru. "Eat mom...so your not hungry". What they dont understand is that just a half of pudding cup and I am full. LOL..

yes , you are swollen from surgery. i don't have the video anymore but if you can see what they have to do to get the band in and all the stitching etc. you would understand why you have swelling and that even liquids can get stuck. my suggestion is if you are unable to get any liquids down for 24 hours your doctor needs to be notified. you don't want to get dehydrated. that feeling would make you feel sick. take small just to wet the whistle sip of warm tea. slowly take a bit more and than more. just do it slowly.

as far as the ticker is concern, i filled out my surgery date ticker and it has never come up. perhaps another problem that alex needs to fix. send a email to him. he is good at responding.

Hello and welcome!

It is very normal to be swollen from surgery. It is also very important to get your fluids in you don't want to dehydrate. That said here are a few tips:

Ice pops are a great way to get fluids in and they help with the inflammation inside the throat and stomach while they go down they are soothing.

Decaffeinated tea will also help to relax the nerves in the esophagus and allow fluids to pass a little bit easier and this also will give you some fluids just be sure it is Decaf. It also helped me with gas pain. You can sweeten with sweet n low or other substitute as needed.

Gas-Ex or Beano will help with the gas that also adds to that heavy chest feeling. Use a heating pad or hot Water bottle on your back or under your shoulders and neck to help the gas move.

Walk walk walk, that will get things moving and you should have some relief I felt that sitting up right rather then lying flat helped tremendously.

Ice packs really help on the wound sites specifically the port site.

When you drink use a medicine cup, one that you would measure cold medicine in and take tiny sips every minute or so.

Feel better soon!!!

You aren't stuck, since you've only been on liquids that's not possible. You're still very swolen and have a couple of days to go yet before you feel normal again. This isn't something you have to get use to, you will feel very little differently than you did before the surgery. The more weight you lose, the more you will be able to feel/see your port though.

Keep bottles of Water by your bedside and drink everytime you get up to use the bathroom. Remember.... Tiny, tiny sips. Fell better soon!

I have my surgery on January 10th, so I have no idea what you are dealing with, but wanted to say "good luck and hang in there"...and please keep us posted as to when your stuck feeling ends and what your doctor said.

:)

I had that exact same thing on day 4. I got to where I couldn't even drink and my urine was turning a dark color. It came on pretty fast and I was out of town. By the time I got hold of my doctor it was late in the afternoon and I progressed from fine in the am to sick in the pm. She took out all of my Fluid and I had immediate relief. She told me I was just really swollen. Everything has been great since and I have 5 cc in my band now.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
