Welcome to LBT! I'm not from Ohio, but I have plenty of relatives from that region of the country. I have family in the North Baltimore & Findlay area, as well as other parts of NW Ohio. I just wanted to say hello.

Wow!! Small world!! That's like 15 minutes to N. Baltimore and half and hour to Findlay for me.

So where are you in the process of banding? I have to go to seminar April 9 and consult with surgeon April 11. Hopefully surgery in May or June. I'm already approved so hopefully this will move along. Had to wait for a year for approval, but it's gonna be worth the wait, I just know it.:clap2:

Hope to hear from you again,

Jackie

I will be banded two years come July 29, 2007. I had to wait a full year with my insurance too, but it has been well worth it. I have lost around 75lbs thus far and hope to continue to lose! Best of luck in your journey!

Hi Sassafras,

Glad to meet you!!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: I thought I was the only one too, from this area.

I've been approved for surgery, but found out the doctor who was going to do the surgery was out of our network. Thankfully, the insurance company said it wouldn't be a problem to find another doctor. I found one in Maumee and will have the surgery at St. Luke's Hospital, also in Maumee. My husband and I (we're both having the surgery) have to go to a seminar on LapBand on April 9, then a consult with Dr. Duckett on April 11, then appt with nutritionist after that. I hope we can set our surgery dates when we see the doc on the 11th, but not sure how that works.

Keep me posted on your progress and I'll do the same. Maybe we can lean on each other a bit.

Do you have a doc picked for your surgery? Do you know of any support groups down your way?

Talk to ya later,

Jackie

Glad to meet you, too Jackie! I'm so excited to find someone from around here! It sounds like you will be getting banded a lot sooner tham me. I am working with Bariatric Solutions at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center. Dr. Kokocharov is the one that will do the surgery. I haven't met with him yet, I think that comes after my next appt with the bariatric physician. I have heard good things about him. I know they have a support group there that I will have to attend after getting banded. Next time I have an appt I will check and see if others can go too and get you the info. I would love for us to have each other as a support!!! My husband is not getting banded, I wish he would. I think it would benefit him. He is being supportive, though so that is good.

Look forward to hearing from you soon!

Hi Sassafras,

How've you been? Well, I got a call from my doctor last week and they had to push me and my husband's consultation appointment back a week to April 18.:cry

I told them that we have to have the surgeries by the end of June because my husband just got offered "the job he's been waiting for all his life" as he puts it, and our insurance carrier will change when he takes over the position. Nothing but bumps in the road!!!!:phanvan :phanvan :phanvan I keep telling everyone by the time we get this surgery it will sure be worth it with all the trouble we've had getting to this point. The lady at the doctors' office told us to contact the new insurance company we were going to switch to and find out if they will pay for any aftercare-because most don't. I asked her how much everything was, like the fills and doctors visits and we were willing to pay out of pocket for those things, but my husband talked to the new insurance company and they said they would pay for 50% of all aftercare!!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: Can you believe it???? I was so excited. I just can't wait to get the surgery, it seems like it has taken so long and so many problems along the way.

I'm not giving up now though, I want this sooo bad, I can taste it.:hungry: LOL!! So to speak!!!

I also found out that St. Luke's Hospital (where we're having the surgery) has a support group for lap banders. Cool huh?

So tell me, how's everything going for you? Any progress?

Talk to you soon, I hope,

Jackie

Jackie, I am sorry I have not been on here in a long time. I have had a lot going on. How was your appointment? You are probably banded by now! I just completed my last month of my supervised diet and everything is ready to go to insurance but now my husband's work decided not to cover spouses anymore so as of June 1st I have to have insurance through my work. So after June 1, they will send the info to my new insurance which thank God is Medical Mutual also and we will go from there. :) I would be getting ready for surgery if this hadn't happened!

Hey, good to hear from you!!

Sorry to hear of all your problems, but things will be fine. As my husband says, "Everything happens for a reason". I even believe that cause he's told me that so many times and it's true.

We wanted our surgeries 2 weeks apart so we could take care of each other, well.....they scheduled us 2 HOURS apart!!! LOL!!! My husband and I talked about it with my mom and decided to go for it and have it done on the same day. We do everything else together, why not this too? Isn't that crazy? My mom is going to be helping us through this, bless her, she's an angel. She's taking us to the hospital and picking us up and taking us to our first doctors appt. I'm stocking up on food for the first 2 weeks or so...I guess I should say liquids, not food. Hopefully I'll have enough stuff so that we won't have to bug my mom to get anything for us. There was a list on one of the threads here that told of all the things you should get before surgery so you won't have to get it after. I found that very helpful.

As I said before, keep me posted on your progress with the insurance and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.:gluck:

Take care,

Jackie

Hi Jackie! When is your surgery? I wish my husband would get it done too but he wants to do it the natural way so more power to him! I have to have my psych eval and after that when I get my new insurance on June 1 the dr's office will submit it for approval......please keep your fingers crossed for me!! I will be thinking of you too.

Thanks KaraB, same to you. Have you already been banded or yet to be banded?

Hi Janelle, have you been banded yet or to be banded?

Hi Sassafras, my surgery is June 11th. All we have left to do is see the nurse for preop appt. Everything else is done. We've been doing the 1200 calorie diet for 2 weeks or so, went to the dietician last Friday and lost almost 16 pounds!!! :clap2::clap2::clap2: Happy, happy!!!! We have to start liquid diet on June 6th. I'll definitely keep my fingers crossed for you.;):D:D

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
