February Surgeries

Recommended Posts

I met with my doc and had the info session last week. We scheduled my appointment with the surgeon for Feb 4th. I will finish my required 3 month diet and behavior modification program the end of January. After the appointment on the 4th they willsubmit for insurance and I hope to be under the knife on Feb. 20th. Can't wait

hello rea,it sounds like and looks like you did a good job of keeping up your diet and behavior modification program. The joy I have for you is that you stuck to it and you lost the weight without the surgery.I wish I could had met and talked to you to encouraged you to continue your eating plan to keep losing the weight because the answer really isnt surgery is it? its about life style changes in eating and thinkiing habits.I hope you succeed in your goals.

Hello all I am about 13 hours post op. Everything went well and surgery went smooth. I have slept almost all day due to the pain meds.

I have gotten up and walked 2 times already. The pain isn't as bad as I thought it would be just my back hurts from laying down during surgery for 2 hours.

I'm on ice chips still and I will begin my Clear Liquids once I get my upper GI first thing in the morning.

My nurses are fantastic and my nurse I had all day had gastric bypass 9 years ago. She weighed 370lbs and age looks fantastic!!!

Thought I would finally check in I hope everyone is doing good who had surgery done today. I will hopefully get out of here by Friday!

Wondering how our other surgeries went today? Hope we get updates soon.

GL to all you going later this week or next (or next). It will be here before you know it.

I have my post op tomorrow which will be day 10. I'm super excited as I get my drain out. The only thing still really bothering me.

They told me it is much more precise less chance of leakage and less wear on Surgeon, newer technology many hospital are introducing. My niece had a robot assisted Hysterectomy and did fine. But my Dr is starting to offer them. I had a choice.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
