Pain In Side 3 Weeks Post Op

Recommended Posts

I have had this horrible nagging pain in my left side for the past 2.5 weeks. Last week it was so bad I went to the ER. They did a CT scan and said everything looks normal. The pain radiates around to my back. It's not kidney stones, not gas and not Constipation. My wonderful Dr has been calling me every day to see if it's better and so far it's not. He wants me to go in for a more thorough CT and do a swallow as well. It seems to get worse at night and I can feel it a lot if I take deep breaths. Anyone else have this or know what it may be? The good and bad news is that when they did my scan, they found a spot on my liver that they want to do further testing on to make sure it's benign. I guess if it wasn't for this pain, they wouldn't have found that. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Had same thing about the same point in time. It may be gas still left over from the surgery or your nerves reconnecting and responding to the healing process.

Sound like left over gas. Try walking more and buy some gas X, also put a heated pad there for comfort. What did they say was on your liver?

Thanks for the replies. I'm not sure that it's gas though. I have been walking a lot and that actually makes it worse. I basically have to keep taking the lortab every 4 hours to even keep the pain manageable. It also seems to be worse after emptying my bladder or bowels. No fun

As for my ct scan, they noticed a small spot or mass on my liver. They don't know what it is so I have to go in for more extensive testing next week. I guess the concern in always cancer but I have no family history of cancer and I've heard liver cancer is very rare. It's probably like a fatty deposit or something. Guess I'll know for sure next week!

I hope your liver is ok and its nothing major. Your in my prayers, as for the pain let the doctors know again what's going on. Hope all goes well.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
