This is my first time on here :-) I had my band put in December 8, 2006. I have my band filled with 1.5mL and my tubing filled. For some reason when I eat--doesn't usually matter what it is, it feels like it gets stuck really close to my lungs and I cannot breathe. i try to walk around, but it doesn't help. I don't know what makes it better really, it just kind of goes away. When it does this my body freaks out and i get a lot of mucous in my mouth. I didn't know if anyone else had this kind of issues and how i can try to solve that. And the kicker of it all--I have lost 10lbs since surgery. I know it's a slow process, but c'mon now! I'm afraid to get my band restricted more because this not feeling like you can breathe feeling is pretty bad. Well, thanks for the replies that I hope to get :-)

Rachel,

I'm so sorry you are having this problem maybe it was to much of a fill for you. I've heard that some people can't ake much of a fill. Call your doctor. Breathing is too important as I'm sure you know. As for the weight loss maybe try going back to the basic's and track what your eatting. Good Luck!

Sounds like it may be too tight OR you aren't chewing well enough.

But doctors are the best people to talk to for this sorta thing! :)

Rachel,

Be verrrry careful. My first fill was too tight 2.5 and 18 months later I am still suffering from reflux (which I never had before the tight fill). To make a long story short I kept the "tight fill" in 2 months too long and finally after pleading they removed all of it and placed me on nexium for 7 weeks and then put back 1/2 of the fill (1/8). However, much to my sorry, even tho I am taking protonix every night, not eating 4 hours before bedtime I still have refulx at least 4 nights out of 7. That makes me sad and it was so unnecessary. So my advice....take care, losing is great (I've lost 88 lbs), but I would have rather had a "mild" fill and lost slower.

Take care,

Bette

I don't know much, but it does sound too tight. I have also read here that the saliva increase is normal in those circumstances.

Good luck!

isn't the saliva mucous stuff called sliming???

try the tricks of drinkin something warm first to losen up your band/ stomach lining, and yes you may need an unfill.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
