Hi All,

I am from the Jackson Mississippi area. I have not had surgery yet but I am going through the preliminary process. I am using Dr. Erin Cummins and I am currently finishing up month 1 of my 3 month pre-surgery diet as required by the Insurance Company. I would love to converse with those going through the process and those who have already been through it. I know there are some people out there but where are you??? :) Would love to hear from you, get your advice and guidance and have some emotional support through this difficult time. Take care my fellow Sleevers and I'll be waiting to hear from you. Janet

Hi Lady H,

I bet you are excited since your orientation is Tuesday. Since I'm pretty new there isn't much advice I can give you but may there will be some solidarity in the fact that we are both in a close time line. Ask lots of questions, take notes and refer to them because I have forgotten a lot of things they have told me. My blood work came back good and they just told me to start taking Vitamin D-3. I have BCBS and have to do a 3 month pre-diet before I can even plan surgery. Of course I had to go ahead and pay my down payment but ... that's about it. Such a pain. Let me know how your orientation goes. BTW... I am going for the sleeve, what about you? Good luck.

I was sleeved July 1 btw.

Hi Jscrimpshire, How have you been doing on the diet since your sleeve? 4 1/2 months out... are you used to the small meals and tons of Water yet? How long did it take to get on real food? Did you have to do a medically supervised diet to get approved? Look forward to hearing from you.

The meal plan is not hard. I find that I must eat about every two hours in order to get all of my calories in. If I let them drop, I stop loosing. I didn't eat whole foods until week six post op. And yes, I had to see a dr every month for six months to document my weight before I was approved.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
