Loosing Weight Between Surgery & 1St Fill?

Recommended Posts

Ok I am 1 month post op and the only weight I've lost was during the week of surgery during the clear liquid phase. I did gain a few pounds after I started eating solids but I've lost those pounds already. Total loss almost 15 lbs since surgery. I know this is the healing phase but I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or should I already be loosing weight. Again I'm just curious not worrying. My first fill is December 2, 2013.

BTW...I eat every 3-4 hours when I'm hungry. I eat about a cup of food at a time. I know I need to drink more Water and eat more fruit. Have not exercised this week but have done a lot of walking in the mall while shopping. Lol

Very normal. I lost 12 lbs the first 2 weeks and then nothing for the next 3.5 months. After my 3rd fill and my nut consult, I started losing weekly.

I've been here for years and the story is the same for many bandsters. Until you get the fill that gives you restriction/satiety it's just a diet. I had to be assertive for my fills. Sometimes only 3 weeks apart.

I agree whole heartily that it's just a diet until you are at full restriction, however I will take it a step further and say that I believe it's a diet until you get to your goal weight. If i hadn't tracked my calories and stuck to a strict eating plan for 22 months to lose weight I think I would still be trying to get to my goal instead of maintaining for the past 10 months. Not to say I wouldn't have reached it... I am sure I would have... but I personally believe I had to put forth every effort possible to lose the weight. In my opinion, the band really goes to work once you have lost your excess weight and you are maintaining it. That said... It sounds like you are doing well and let's face it a Loss is a loss. But I get bored easily and was really motivated to get to my goal as quickly and safely as possible. My doctor and I decided on 1000-1200 calories a day for me. Your number may be different. I didn't go over that ever during the losing stage. I lost each and every week except for 3 plateaus I hit which looking back were my body's way of hanging on to the fat I so desperately wanted to lose!! LOL If you aren't already....Consider tracking your calories on your phone app or computer. You want to write down everything that goes in your mouth except toothpaste. You may find it works for you. Best wishes for a successful journey!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
