Someone posted the question of pre-op diets on the FB group, and I thought it might be helpful to have a separate thread from the other huge thread for people to post their pre-op diets. I know they differ so much, so I thought it might be fun to see what everyone else has to do (plus would be a great source of encouragement as well, since it will be a struggle!

Ideas of posting:

How long do you have to pre-op diet

What day do you start

What does your pre-op diet consist of

Here I go:

I have a 1 week pre-op liquid diet

I start it on December 4th

I have to have 5 Protein Drinks a day (either Carnation Breakfast Essential, No Sugar Added or Slim Fast 3.2.1)

I also have to have a total of 64 ounces of fluids a day which can consist of:

Crystal Light

Decaffeinated coffee

Decaffeinated Tea

sugar-free Popsicles

Water

broth

Sugar-Free Jello

V-8 or Spicy V-8

Now THAT'S a pre-op diet that actually sounds 'do-able'. Is that all the way up until surgery?

If you are that tired you might want to call and talk to the nutritionist and see what else you can do. This is just a thought and the liquid is to just get you clean before surgery.

I am finishing up day three of my pre-op diet, surgery is Monday:

2.5 Protein Shakes per day

1 8 ounce glass of 100% fruit juice

At least 64 ounces of Clear Liquids which include: Water, crystal light, sugar free kool-aid. Sugar free Popsicles, broth.< /p>

Having a hard time with the shakes, I'm sick of all the sweet of everything, I crave salty food.

I actually had diarrhea last night and I never drank the third shake yesterday. I just went to bed and slept twelve hours. I am a preschool teacher and I have 5 year old twin boys so I don't stop all day so I think it just caught up to me!

Surgery date is December 9th also.

8 days of liquids before surgery date. 7 days are full fluids (broths, strained cream Soups, sugar free popsicles, 0% MF Yogurt, shakes, blended cottage cheese, sugar free/fat free jello/pudding, skim milk, etc...) and then 1 day of clear fluids before surgery date. No chew able foods, caffeine, or carbonated beverages. Spent the last week getting myself off my caffeine addiction before moving on to the liquid diet!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
