Ann Wilson

Did anyone watch Ann Wilson's (of Heart) story on Discovery Health Channel last night? Her journey is just like everyone's here on this forum, but it helped me to see the visuals. It was good for me to see that 2 years out she still is about 30 or so pounds away from goal. I needed that visual perspective. Anyway, it was an interesting show...

Yes. I think it plays every now and then. I've seen it a couple of times.

I'm a big Heart fan anyway. I just love Ann Wilson!

Some say she 'should' have lost better. I say any loss is better than no loss and I think she's beautiful!

I think we get way too caught up in the 'fast' results, when the goal is really not about how we look to others or what size clothes we can get into. This is a drastic measure, taken by those whose health had gone astray.

Everyday, I look in the mirror and I think to myself. I hate my arms. :) To me, they are so unsightly for wearing sleeveless clothes. My thighs are sagging where I've lost weight. My tummy is a scary sight to behold (especially since I'm the incision Queen.) but the focus of my journey is working. I can breathe now. I can wipe my own behind without having to be an acrobat. My center of gravity is returning. My cholesterol isn't an embarrassment anymore or a danger to my very existence. These are the reasons I got my band. Anything else is purely bonus!

I thought what was interesting was she said other types of weight loss surgery (rearranging your insides) could have affected her voice.

Leatha, I was impressed that her goal was health and not just weightloss. And I was REALLY impressed that she does not want to send the wrong message to her teenage daughter about body image and weightloss!

Marie, I thought that was an interesting comment about WLS affecting her voice, too. I wish she would have elaborated on that.

I saw it last year but I wished it would of focused a little more on the Lap Band and the procedure itself,(to get the word out) not so much on her personal story...but I enjoyed it none the less

THis is my very first post, but I have been reading here a bit and when I read this last statement, I wanted to yell YAHOO.

I am just now starting the process of getting banded. I mean just starting. I haven't met with a surgeon yet, just know that this is what I want. And WLS has been recommended by my Diabetic Doctor.

I am asthmatic and diabetic, I have high blood pressure and sleep apena. Feeling better is what it is all about for me.

I will put an introduction in on the right thread. I just had to comment about your excellent post.

Thanks

Vicki

We saw Ann Wilson and Heart at the Sturgis bike rally in August. She looked like she had lost more and she looked great! The difference from her top weight is amazing and has probably made her life a lot easier.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
