Almost a week out

Recommended Posts

So I'm new to all of this, not sure if I am doing this right, sure you will let me know. I had my Gastric Sleeve on October 30th, 2013. I love Halloween(not for the candy) and thought to myself, its a good time to have surgery. I'm still sore and tire out easily but doing ok. I thought about having a Sleeve for about a year. I work as an RN in an operating room and see the surgeries every day. Perks of this, I really got to see how it all happens, ask lots of questions, and pick my team. I can't say how blessed I am for the care my friends gave me. I'm tired of the Fluid thing already, craving pizza ( I did through my whole pregnancy) and sore. I am the third in line of four girls. And oh lucky me, I'm the fat sister. I finally decided to do something about it. I want to be healthy for my daughter and my gorgeous Canadian boyfriend of six years. He took care of me for the past week, he did a great job. He had to go back home today, so I am very down, but trying to keep my chin up by walking and reading all the posts on this site. I have a beautiful 17 year old daughter who thank God did not take after me in the weight department. I'm just starting this journey and I am a bit scared. Hoping that seeing how others cope will help me stay on the right track.

So happy for you! I have fought to diet since 12 years old when someone called me potbelly. I am 67 now and lost the battle. My surgery is November 18. God Bless and good luck!!

Congratulations on your surgery. I remember feeling scared and also feeling that everything was out of my control in the early days. On day 4, I cried a lot and had buyers remorse big time. First two weeks were tough adjusting to the new normal.

But I wouldn't change a minute of it. Life is transformed in so many ways and on so many levels. Silly things like going clothes shopping and buying small sizes. Important things like losing one comorbidity and reducing my drugs for another to a minimum.

But the biggest thing is how happy I am. I have lots of good things in life - lovely family, great friends, enjoyable career. But I never felt truly happy because my weight bored down on me. Not any more :-))))

Good luck on the journey, might be a roller coaster in places but it's quite a ride! Life will literally never be the same again for all the best reasons x

I'm 2 weeks out today. My sleeve was 10/21. I'm feeling oh so much better. The first 10 days were really rough just because I was so nauseous! I'm eating very small amounts 3 to 4 times a day and starting to regain strength and stamina. Walking every day but not too far and certainly not too fast. I have what I like to call "food fantasies". Fantasizing about the foods I feel like I'm missing out on. Crazy I know, then I think about the over 20 lbs I've lost since starting the pre-op diet and I feel better about what I think I'm missing - a bigger butt lol.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
