December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Alright December Sleevers, I'm hoping that this title brings more people in so we can follow and encourage each other through our journeys.

I am 40. I'm 5'4" and about 308 right now. I'd like to get to a healthy BMI which would be around 145. I'm hoping for a December 4th or 5th date with Dr. William Johnson.

Everyone introduce yourselves!

This is the App to download on your phone or other device: http://appshopper.com/social-networking/bariatricpal

At the bottom, there are 10 screen shots to flip through to see the app before downloading it. There are some pics and sceen names as well as posts clearly seen.

If I go to Google and search for "atlantared" then yes, my profile does come up. AtlantaRed is ONLY my name on here as I didn't want my identity from other sites to be the same. If I Google search my real name, this site doesn't come up.

Hope that helps.

By the way, you can change your screen name if you are using one that you also use in other places if you want more privacy. I will probably change my picture and that should be all I need to do.

If anyone does change their screen name, give me a heads up so I can change it on the mega list!

Congrats on your date! Its all getting so real.

Im so confused about this ... So is this site being completely shut down? And if not we still need the other?

I think it is being shut down BUT we really shouldn't notice it. They are moving everything over for us. Right now there are separate pages for the different surgies such as Vertical Sleeve Talk, Lap Band Talk, etc. They are combining all of them to one site called Bariatric Pal. However, there will still be areas that are separate for each procedure but also places where everybody with ANY of the procedures can interact.

Does that help?

Aww thanks so much, on both accounts!

I spend way too much time on here, so I can answer stuff! lol

Very excited about my date even though it's a week later than I wanted. 5 weeks and 1 day! lol

Ok question what do you drink the barrium for (which test) I'm allergic so just curious.

In one visit at the hospital, I had a barium test so they could see how well I swallow and the size and position on my stomach.

They put me on this giant table standing up to start with. Then they lean the table back and take X-rays at various angles. I had to to roll all the way around to coat my stomach with the barium.

It tastes awful. But the procedure was painless. You might want to contact your doctor and see if an alternative contrast solution can be used. Hope that answers your question.

For the second visit with GI specialist - I have a stricture in my esophagus called a shotzkys ring (sp? I think it's correct). My father had it, my brother has it.

About every year I have to get a dialation. They put me under and used a 52 French. Honking big! Glad I was asleep for that one. So I had my upper GI and the dialation in that visit.
