I can't believe tomorrow is one week already for the 12/2 sleevers! Doing well, but still can't sleep on my side.

Time sure does fly! Glad you're doing well! After my gallbladder removal last year, it was a couple of weeks before I could get on my side, but I don't tolerate pain very well and the meds don't do much for me. I learned to sleep on my back during that time (was always a stomach sleeper). Good thing I did, I have a feeling I'll be sleeping that way for a while again!

What stage are you on with your diet?

Congrats to all you December "babies". I was sleeved 10/17/13. I started at 238 5'6inches. Now I'm down to 207!!! 170 is my goal weight.

My dr's goal is somewhere around 150-160, but I've been that small before and it doesn't look healthy on me.

Is anyone drinking the Isopure clear drinks? I got some last night because they were on sale. They have 40 grams of Protein so I got a few. If you are, which flavors did you like?

The tangerine flavor is really good. Taste like orange juice. I got the tropical but haven't tasted it yet but I heard it taste like fruit punch

First, I want to thank the person who offered me support when I was struggling with life circumstances last week. I never got around to thanking you. I'm doing better with my breakup than I was before, and my mom will be coming with me to the hospital the day of surgery.

So tonight was my last night of 'normal' eating. 2 week preop diet begins tomorrow with 3 shakes and one small meal a day. I took my son out to our favorite chinese place for my 'last supper'. When it was time to pay the bill a bit of a panic attack got me. The reality of what is coming in 14 days started to leak in a bit.

Good luck to the upcoming sleevers and those postop in your recovery.

Glad your doing better and your mom is coming to help you out. It is weird how life changes when we least expect. It seems to happen to me all the time, but what is even better is the Blessings that come out of it. You got this and I pray everything will work out great for you.

Thank you. God has his timing. It probably would have been harder to end things with BF after having him support me through surgery and weight loss. God forbid things fell apart this week or next, that drama between intense finals weeks and having planned originally for him to help me- I would have been left in a terrible emotional and logistical lurch. It makes this all a bit more overwhelming for me now though, coping with that loss of security/comfort I got from my partner and the fear thats creeping up for the unknown ahead- both surgery and life.

It's a bitter sweet time, I imagine for a lot of us. We are scared, excited, scared again, and hopeful. We have to let go of a part of us, overeating and comfort eating, that has got most of us to this point- become a habit and often a way of coping with feelings- and then surgically remove that coping mechanism and adopt new healthy exercise and eating habits to turn this dream of finally being slim into an unfathomable reality. Least, thats how it feels to me.

So many things to look forward to down the road. To be fit, attractive, full of energy! Getting my associates in the spring and shopping for a nursing school, and other big life decisions. I wanted a partner to take this journey with me- but God knows bets. I will work on myself and hope that, as it is said, God doesn't take something away without giving us something better in it's place. Thanks for listening to my ramblings. It was a bit of a rough night. Making big life changes is hard and scary, and being brave is hard some times!

I forgot to tell ya'll what my fortune cookie at my 'last supper' said: "Your golden opportunity is ahead of you". Yes, indeed- they have no idea. Love it when God speaks to me through fortune cookies...lol. This is a golden opportunity we have.

You have a great out look, and Congrats on you AA in nursing. I hope you fond a school you like. That is a hard feild and the schools keep changing what you have to do to get in. So be prepared for anything. I know because I work at a college.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
