December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Recommended Posts

--------

These days I'm barely getting in 500 cals and scary to say probably only 50g of Protein which is too low for my doc office -- they want me at 65-80g. I'm coming over a setback After some flounder that did not sit well so started back on full liquids at 8 weeks out. I'm almost 11 weeks out now and have been doing ok with salmon and stewed meats. most of my Protein still comes from shakes blended with fage greek yogurt cause it takes way too long to eat any solids. Still recovering from hernia repair. Everything makes me gassy these days post flounder so I'm taking ultra tums as per my doc. I take spin classes 2-3x a week and have no idea where I get the energy from But it's a fun stress reliever.

I feel fuzzy only when I don't get enough Water like minimum 6-8 cups daily or more on spin class days.

Hope you feel better soon.

I sleeved on Dec 9th and my HW 233 CW 184. 2 wks ago I started focusing on 65 to 70 grams of protein a day, 50 or below carbs and I've increase my calories to an average of 900 - 1000 day ( which is a lot of work to get it all in). The results have been incredible, about nine pounds in 2 weeks. I truly believe my body was in starvation mode, I think my metabolism has been kicked into gear.

I need focus on consistent exercise which is a huge area of opportunity for me.

Yay! That is awesome Kiap82..It is amazing how good those things that feel so good and that thin people have never even thought about... just tieing our shoes, crossing our legs, seat belts...etc..etc... :D Shellvsg, that is very interesting. I think there is a lot of truth to what you are saying, but I feel like I'm going to gain weight if I go off of what I am doing. (Head stuff)...But I totally think you are right!!! Cheers to you both!!! :D :D

My husband got me an inexpensive ring to wear in the interim. We call it the "stunt double ring."

I haven't gotten a stunt double and wouldn't you know I had someone at work ask me why I was 'missing something'. I thought she was implying my weight loss in general but it turned out she meant my wedding rings. She had the nerve to ask if everything was ok! I was so stunned I told her all was fine minus my rings being too big to wear.

O my gosh. Just wanted to share this. I was sitting at work and look down an saw I had cross my legs. I was amazed and looked at my coworker and said "look my legs are crossed." She had a blank look on her face and I told her this was a first for me in a long time. We had a NSV high five. Yeah for me.

ME TOO! Happened this past Sun night... my friend instantly high fived me :). Congrats!!!

As of today I am down just over 77lbs pre & post op.

Sleeved on 12/26.

Truly a full circle year for me.

So grateful to not be in the same place, only wishing I would of done something.

Excited for the future

Continuing my work to honor myself & my sleeve

So happy even turning a year older ha ha!

Take care every one & keep posting & inspiring :o)

12/17/13....Felipe the Sleeve was born. 3 months is creeping up fast!!!!

Down 50lbs... Weight loss has slowed considerably since I discovered the real dangers of sliders....

Pork rinds, pickles, mini triscits and buttered popcorn... I just had to tell Felipe "no more!"

So were back at the gym, preparing for a 5k, shopping, wearing a size 12!...and respecting the journey always.

Shelby....

Shelby- I too felt the wrath of the slider at the movie theatre a few days ago. It's was my first time having popcorn since surgery and I assured my friend that he should only get a small since there was no way I'd be able to eat more than two fist fulls. Well- he got a medium and I'll be damned if I didn't help him finish the bag.

This was my first time experiencing that feeling since surgery. Even after leaving the movie, I was ready for dinner. Needless to say, my tryst with popcorn was short lived. Won't be doing that again! :(

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
