December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow is my big day I have to be there at 5:00am. I haven't been nervous I think because I've been concentrating on finishing my Christmas shopping lol. Right now I just felt a little scared because of what could go wrong and after. I think it's normal. I'm excited for the after part though =).

Hi I'm Jennifer. I was sleeved on the 17th and and am back at home, still not 100% but feeling better by minute by minute. I was sleeved at Fraedtert Hospital in Milwaukee by Dr. Wallace, who was amazing by the way. My main issue right now is that I am having trouble getting all of my liquids in. I feel like I was sipping all day and only got it about 32 ounces, if not less. How is everyone else doing with their liquid intake? I'm also having more pain than I anticipated at my incision sites but they're not red or swollen or hot or anything so I'm thinking all is well. I'm kind of a wimp when it comes to pain anyway!

I was sleeved the 17th. I had the worst nausea ever. Stayed an extra day trying to control it. It was and still is rather rough. Glad to be home though.

hello. I am new to this group, but I am very interested in learning from everyone. I had my gastric sleeve on 12/2/13. I know that it's going to be the best thing I'll ever do for myself. I am struggling getting in all of my Protein and I am beyond exhausted everyday. I went back to work on 12/16. Has anyone else experienced this? I would take all the advice I can get. Thank you in advance.

Welcome! I wake up energized, take my Vitamins, Water, and get on treadmill, today did 1.75 miles - did some more water, then showered. Hubby and I headed out to get gift card shopping done, stopped and got a Decaf at McDonald's and it was free today! Then made two mire stopped and I was done! Came home and drank my Unjury chicken broth w protein, then crashed for nearly three hours!

I have taken at least a three hour nap all week! I hope I can get past that soon!!!

I was sleeved on 12/16 and since I have been home I have been feeling very tired with no energy. Today I took some liquid B12 and I have so much energy today. And the B12 strawberry flavored liquid that I had tasted pretty good

Strawberry sounds great, mine is mixed berry and I think I would have preferred yours! I'm with you on the energy level! Naps everyday!

Hi All: I like MnWin am having a terrible time getting the liquids in. After following the plan for liquids for only one hour I feel like my stomach will burst from pressure. Been trying gas x strips. Due to the nausea I had day 2 and 3 I won't take any pain meds stronger than liquid tylenol. Is there anyone else out there that encountered this at the first and saw it get better? I very discouraged and teary because I feel so much pressure in my stomach. At this point if I could undo this surgery I would in a second.

My prayers to you cabs! Hope you can get this under control soon did you call your dr?

For those of you with low energy; I was told by my doctors office it was because of inadequate Protein. The B 12 helps as well.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
