So today is day 7 of my 3 week liquid diet. My Meal Replacement shakes HAVE to be the SIim Fast shakes per my surgeon's order. The problem is this: I'm already tired of them. I can't imagine what it's going to be like to force these down in 2 weeks if I'm already tired of them now. I must keep going though. If I don't, I will have wasted a week and will have to reschedule my surgery and I'm not doing that. Soooo, I'm just gonna have to choke them down and go on with it. I will say this though-after my surgery is done, I hope I never ever ever see another slimfast!

I always have a problem with a surgeon that limits you to ONLY one option. My surgeon gave me guidelines for Protein Shakes and I could have anything that fell within those guidelines. I'd ask your doc if he has stock in SlimFast...

Odd choice. I use to do SlimFast by choice. And in no way does it compare to the better Protein shakes out there like Muscle Milk or Premium which have 20 even 30g of Protein in each shake (consequently keeping you fuller longer). Slimfast will just make you snacky long term so if you are on a strict liquid diet...eeeccchhh.

But if you have to stick to SF, I <3 chocolate royale. Add ice and blend it for a longer lasting shake or warm it up like a hot cocoa. Just little mental tricks to get you through.

I'd call them -- you are the patient, the customer, the client. They need you to be successful so what do they suggest to help you get through.......

Well my doctor give me a list of shakes but I also purchase the premier and that shake was not in the list to keep it to drink in my job and I keep them in the refrigerator because it was convinience for me so far I lost 10 pounds in -10 days, honestly I do not see nothing wrong with replace one shake with other brand that a lot of people also use and they are okay using those brands but that is a choice you have to make , I know I did my, good luck with you diet :)

With the slim fast shakes I always had to have them very cold. I used a shake that was not very good so I made sure that it was very cold and then I would stand over the sink and pretty much chug it down without stopping or breathing. Then I would swish Water around in my mouth to get rid of the taste. Hope this helps you. Keep up with the diet it will be over soon. Take it one day at a time and reward yourself with a movie or a fun activity. You can do this.

My dietician said no Slimfast. One of the Lowest Protein contents and one of the highest sugar contents. What's up with that??

A lot of people don't realize that there is a high protein/low carb version of slimfast. My doctor didn't specify that I had to use the high Protein version but that is what I've been using. I did ask the nurse about it and she said that he prefers the slimfast over other Protein drinks during the preop phase because he wants his patients to use something that is a full meal replacement shake-not just a Protein Drink. Post-op, we are supposed to switch to Protein Drinks such as Isopure, powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury, or something along those lines.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
