OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Hello All! One week out today. (Feels like the hardest week of my life.) I'm looking for some help/clarification. What exactly is considered a "meal" during the full liquids stage? I've just been drinking Water, eating popsicles (praise God for those), sipping on the Protein Shakes and having SF Jello or SF pudding without a schedule or anything. I know I'm not supposed to drink liquids 30 minutes prior or after a meal but just not sure what is considered a meal. If I knew, I could develop a better schedule. Any help is appreciated!

From what I understand liquid are liquids and therefore no definition between "eating" and drinking. This part of the process is all about staying hydrated and full of Protein for healing. Not till purée stage that the meals are more defined.

Attached what I am sticking too.

1 week out from surgery and I also have lots of pain in my lower left abdomen. Went to the Dr he says its normal. The muscles waking up from surgery. Then while trying to go to sleep last night i had the same burning sensation only as a cramp above my belly button. Rubbing it made it relax and go away. Not so with the lower left abdomen. It hurts to bend twist upon sitting and standing. Dr. Said take pain meds and take it easy and keep walking.

When on full liquid I did not put time in between since my program considers all of it liquid.

Four week post op today. Doing well, no issues with my stomach thank goodness. Just working on getting everything in as I don't ever feel hungry. Will admit that I "want" things sometimes when I smell them so I kinda try to avoid those situations. scale says 35 pounds so far. I have one month followup on Friday to talk about labs that I had drawn Monday...ten tubes worth! I am disappointed that my glucose levels are still high so also made appointment at diabetes clinic. I really don't want to go back on insulin. I just lost all the weight I gained after I started taking it. Hopefully will get to move on to the soft food stage. Tired of pureeing almost everything and would like to have some meat and veggies with texture. Hope everyone is doing well. Take care. Lisa

Respect the pouch! Respect it! :)

Its amazing how fast my 2 week appt came up- was advanced from puree to 'soft foods', and down 22 lbs from my pre-op appointment.

I still just dont feel great- I have read about people having this energy burst but I havent seen it yet. I get so tired, so quickly...and my insides just dont feel 'right'. My doc said its all normal...and because I also had my ovaries removed my recovery may be a little slower than others. :(

Anyway....I want to tell everyone thank you for posting as we are going along. I dont reply to many posts- but its so encouraging to know that there are others who are going through this right along with me.

Sip...sip...sip... :)

Today is the first day since coming home from the hospital that I've felt bad. I've been in a general state of funk. I've been nauseated since I woke up and can't seem to shake it.

I'm sooo loving my Mexican meals....1 tablespoon of chilli Beans, 1 tablespoon refried Beans, 1 teaspoon each of lite sour cream and cottage cheese...all pureed up to pinky/maroon mush. Yum!

Feeling great. Have done a 1hr tramp today thru some local forest and another 20 min walk later on in the afternoon. Fluid levels good. Still losing painfully slow - in fact I GAINED 1/4 lb this morning!! *sigh* ( still can't stay off scales).

Im keeping the faith that my body is in shock and will soon register all my hard work. :-)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
