Nervous about my surgery date!

Recommended Posts

So I spoke with my surgeons office today and yay I passed my Pysch evaluation. Not that I didn't think I would but still excited. So! He tells me my date will likely be the 17th or 18th of December. This makes me extremely nervous as Christmas is only a week after this and I have a 1 year old. Well at christmas she will be almost 2. I am so scared I will either be in too much pain or tired and miss her Christmas or even worse something go wrong and me be in the hospital. I know this is what I need and want and I have worked to hard to get here. He is going to try very hard to make it the week prior but if not..I will be a hot mess! My last PCP visit is 11/25 and due to insurance deductible I dont want to go into January. Ugh!! How where you a week after surgery ??

I was okay until the night before, I thought about if it was really worth it if something went wrong . I have 4 daughters and I just didn't know...I also was going to miss food but in the end , whatever will be will be...you have to go in knowing your doing this for the right reason and as long as you do everything you should, it should be ok

It sounds like you have a good, supportive husband behind you. I'm sure he'll be a great help to you when you need it. Think of this as a Christmas gift you are giving to yourself, your husband, and your daughter. For yourself it's the gift of good health, stamina, long life, and self-confidence. For your husband it's the gift of a more active, happier wife (looking better and feeling sexier is a bonus!). For your daughter it's the gift of a healthier mom who can play with her and be an active part of her life for many, many years to come!

And I also had an easy time of it after surgery. Little pain, no complications, quick recovery! Good luck to you! :-)

Thank you so much!! I absolutely know I am making the right desicion and I guess no time is a good time for surgery or being out of work or not able to pick up your child ! I truky think when I got the news I was cleared from my Pysch eval that it made it real...I still have 2 more PCP apoointments but Ive already been cleared but still have to go to those appointments and again not as if I was expecting to fail but I think it made me realize Omg this is actually going to happen. I knew I could come here and get support!! My husband is amazing and I an so thankful for him but having support of people who have already been here really helps!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
