So I am trying to prepare for the meals that might happen..It sounds like there needs to be Protein Shakes to make up a great deal of the meals. Is this true? I also am concerned as I read that there is only soft foods for awhile. But it has to have Protein correct?

Minimum of 60g a day. In the beginning it is impossible to get that in without some sort of protein supplement (added powder or shake). Once you move to the next phases you always eat protein 1st to make sure you get enough. If you eat a veggie or starch first you may get too full to fit the protein.

Every second! I had another appointment today. All steps are completed. 6lbs left to lose. Next appointment is Oct 31. If I am down the 6lbs they will schedule me with the surgeon and I will get my date. Its surreal. I was also told I am cleared for the sleeve even though I have a hernia. I'm excited but terrified for the actual surgery. I will def need my forum buddies to survive! xx

I originally was going with the sleeve but after my dr visit I am doing the gastric. I need some prayers from u guys because this next Wednesday I have an egd. I have what they call a benign gastric leimyoma. Where it is positioned and what it looks like determines several factors of my surgery. I could just have a pouch if the think it could reoccur in my lower unused stomach! Also hopefully it is not by my esophagus because then we have a BIG Problem!

I already take meds for my gastritis and the dr said the sleeve would make it worse so that is why I am doing bypass

Yeah I am so happy for you LuminousLife, I am trying to get all my stuff done so that I can get my surgery in December, but not too sure. I am trying to make it before the insurance company changes and the deductible is back to zero. Sounds bad doesn't it. I have to pay for the 2 night stay and the dietitian visits. So that is already a payment. And on top of that I have been having some car issues, so that money saved is now spent on repairs. I really just want a light at the end of the tunnel to be my light. I have been working on this my whole life. I completed my labs. The only 'bad' thing is the glucose (diabetic) and then the psych eval on Monday. I have been cleared from my PEBB group and now just have to wait (I think) for my insurance.. I am on the waiting list like you

We have lots in common! I was dead set on the sleeve until mybinsurance disagreed but after speaking with the surgeon he said the gastic bypass would be the best for the weight I needed to lose. After doing more and more research and I am very hapoy with my decision. My date is either 12/10 or 12/18. Onky 60 days away!!!! I cant believe it!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
