Anyone From Sacramento?

Recommended Posts

Oh well, I guess that is good to hear, at least there is a reason why it seems like it has been much harder for me...I never been to a pain management class and this was the first time I have heard of this. I think I need to go see my doctor to see if there is something I can do or possibly another medicine I can take that would not cause weight gain, especially since it seems to make it quite a bit harder for me to lose, I feel like I have to work extra hard at it.

I hope you have a nice weekend as well and I hope you are not in too much pain, take care of yourself.

I can feel the cold weather all in my lower back and I'm not even outside today!

April: Just received your note, have you been on Norco, it is a stronger version of Vicodin, I took it for several months until the knees got so bad and was not cutting the pain, also check with a drug book and go over your medications you are taking along with the Percocet you can also ask the drugest about weight gaining medications or possiable weight gain medications you are taking. They said at the class they could not say it would effect everyone that way but I did notice everyone in the class I was in was struggling with weight gain. Some times I think they think all we do is sit around and eat bon bon's all day. I talked to the Richmond office and they said I was too early to worry about not making mandtory appointments, and the only think I had to do was to be sure to get a weight to they with in the month.

The Pill book I picked up was from Wal Mart and was cheaper then the book stores around here. By the way your address says Sacramento, is that where you are? I am in Shingle Springs need the new Red Hawk Casino. I will close for now

take care.

Sincerely

Judy:blush:

Thanks for the info I will check with my pharmicist too and possibly pick up the drug book (pill book). Yes I am in Sacramento off of Hwy 50. I was sitting there thinking today that I might be close to needing a fill as well, I haven't had one for about 5 months because my last one I was throwing up all the time and couldn't get even Water down so they took that little bit back out. Now I am where my doc thought was MY max fill about 5 months ago. Maybe that has changed recently.

At work am off now, so I better og for now I will write more later.

Take care

Sorry if I'm bringing up something that's already been discussed, but there are just too many pages of replies to go through them all and search. I am having my surgery done through Kaiser Richmond, however, I live here in the Sacramento area and was wondering of any support groups I could possibly sit in on instead of driving all the way down there twice a month.

Thanks!

Hi Serenity:

I still can not figure out who to call at Kaiser to find out if there are any more classes, I was talking to April and at one time there were support group meeting in the Arden Fair but no more.

Also when I went to the first class on of the other ladies there said there was a group in Elk Grove that meet there but have not found out any information on that.

Are you just starting this process or do you have a surgery date?

Sincerely,

Gbunny

aka Judy:rolleyes:

I went to a Bariatrics Group at Elk Grove Kaiser once that meets every Monday evening - can't remember the time. At the meeting I went to I was the only person who had been banded - everyone else had gastric bypass. I haven't been able to find a lap band group in Sacramento either. There are a few people that meet for lunch - I met with them last week - we should set something up more regular. ?

Hi ladies (I believe the last few who posted all are)!

Sorry, it has been awhile since I have posted, although I do lurk, when time allows. I am always encouraged by reading each of your posts! Hope each of you are doing well!

For Momcof3, Smilin_Apple, gbunny, serenitystar07, and all who are interested...THIS Saturday, at 11:00, at the Kaiser-Point West, yes the one opposite to Arden Fair, the Bariatric Support group will be meeting. I am planning on going, and hoping to meet any of you there! Perhaps we could get a coffee/tea afterwards also.

Please email me if you can make it, so we can arrange to meet. Angel & Patty, the leaders are Bypass Patients, but very open and helpful with banders attending! Also, there is a woman named Gina that attends who is banded and has an inspiring story, that we could talk with.

Keep up the good work, you all are a 'local' place on the web, that I enjoy getting inspired from!:)

For all interested...the address is...

Point West Medical Offices

1650 Response Road

Sacramento, CA 95815

You can enter either of the front doors, and walk towards the center and back hallway, there is usually a sign for the room we are in!

See ya soon!

Hi Meandmy...great name!

There are a couple of ladies here who have gone thru Richmond, that will respond. But, if you are in the area, This sat @ 11:00, Kaiser Point West, off of Arden & 80, there is a support group for Kaiser Bariatric Patients, both bypass and band. There are a few of us gathering there, and then doing coffee/tea afterwards.

You are more than invited to come, I have been going off & on since spring of last year (banded in Dec) and have gleaned so much from the information, support and other patients! It helps pass the Kaiser wait time in a very helpful weigh! We'll also share some book titles too. Hope you can make it!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
