Jealous best friend :(

So my friend of more than 15 yrs rarely speaks to me. Ever since I told her I was having the gastric bypass done she has slowly stopped texting, emailing or calling me. What do you guys think about that? :(

My best friend is my number one cheer leader. We have been through everythib g together and we are not letting this dynamic change break us either. We talked about it before surgery what would happens when I get smaller.

She said that I would be her new barbie doll and would take me shoping all the time.

I am lucky enougj to not have a boyfriend to break up whith when I get attention. Lol

I have six kids I'm doing this to be healthier for myself and to be able to do more with them . Last year they wanted me to go on field trips with them and the walking was horrible I am 270 5'4 and my kids are in elementary and I have a 2 year old and I have been over weight since I was like 13 I'm 28 now my dr mentioned it to me and asked if I was interested because I've tried diet centers i go to gyms Ian's its hard so I was like defiantly . My husband is happy for me either way he is very supportive ;) but my friends have been heavy and they have always been really competitive of losing weight so I'm worried it might put a dent in our relationship even though I'm doing it for health reasons:/

Casey,

I hope that you having surgery doesnt put a dent in your friendships.. I think your making a great decision, stick to it and enjoy the new you with your children. :) U can do it!! I am only 8 days post op, but I am not not regretting my decision one bit, just because of my best friends jelousy. I figure what type of friend is that, theres more friends out there just havent met them yet :)

Crystalynn , the best of luck to you!!! I feel like they should be happy for me ... I have been reading so many people's stories on here and it's so exciting to me I'm so happy for them and I don't even know them but its because I know where there coming from :)

Hi Casey and you all!

It is the most painful thing when you children wants to do things together with you but you know that you dont have the energy to do whath they want!

I have to girls 10/12 and they were begging me to go bicycling/skiing and playing in the pool with them;omg felt like the worst mun ever...

I had gastric bypass last october, and now I am a heakthy size 10:-)

This is the best thing I have ever done!

I am healthier, much happier, confident and much more axtive!

I go skiing with the girls,I have just got a bike from my mom and cannot wait til our trip to Spain this summer,I will swim, dive and play un the pool all day,and see the joy in my girls eyes!

This is why we have surgery,a better life for all the family!

I have kept my best friends and even got som really nice new ones because I am happier and more outgoing;-)

Just one distant friend have been angry and a bit bitchy with me,and yes you guessed it:she is very overweight...

Good luck to you all and lets keep up the good work;lets get he a better life!

Big hug from me in Norway!

Hey Solveig I'm so happy for you !!!;) I'm glad you are able to enjoy time with your family and kids and do things they want you to do !!!! Keep up the great work !!!! Sending hugs back to you from Memphis ;)

Maybe see if your friend wants to do this with you. I went through something similar with my best friend an it turned out that she just wanted to do it too and was disappointed that I didn't tell her sooner. I had my surgery 5 weeks ago and she'll be going to her informational session the first week in August. Unfortunately we do get competitive when it comes to dieting so I'm kinda glad we didn't do it around the same time. We can each take our time and lose at our own pace.

Jeepchick42 , we had a friend awhile back that going to get it done and she told us about it icy hour it was great she is 24 5'2 and weighs 327 and really needed the surgery her weight puts her health at more risk than the surgery and my other friend that I've known the longest talked her out of it :( telling her how dangerous it is but it's dangerous being overweight she has bad back aches breathing problems she has a littlle girl and she lost her husband last year because of diabetes and she needs to be there for her daughter and be healthy ... I would love for all of us to go together it would be a great idea !!! But when you say weight loss surgery to some people it's almost like you said you were going to commit a crime :( but my husband is a great supporter;)and now I have all of you!!
