Mine slipped also and just had it removed, haven't gained weight and hopefully I don't. I decided on RNY after extensive research. The band is showing high percentage of failure, sleeve hasn't had enough research to see what it failure rate might be. So I went with the gold standard which is the RNY and that has had a lot of research done over the last 20-30 years.

The way I decided on the RNY was because my dr had mentioned that with the sleeve you would eventually have to have another surgery. The band to me was strange because you have this foreign thing in your body and it creeped me out especially since you could feel it. My friend has it and when she got pregnant I could see the port pushing against her tummy as she got bigger. I decided the RNY was the best option due to the amount of years in existence and I don't want to have another surgery, already went through that situation, don't want to do it again. :) Hope that helps!

I had rny because if anything ever happens in the future it can always be reversed! With the sleeve they remove the stomach that they take off. With rny it still has a job so if anything ever goes wrong in can be reversed! Just the safe way to go for myself!

I went with the rny because my dr said that if u have any problems with heartburn and indigestion that the sleeve would cause you to have more of it. Also I have seen results from rny and felt like I wanted this one over all others.

I had too much to lose to consider lap band. I have a relative that had the sleeve a couple years ago and she's not happy with her weight loss. I just figured if I was having WLS that I wanted the most proven and effective.

If you're at the point that you have made the decision to have one or the other, your surgeon is the person to ask about the plusses and minuses of both surgeries. The best option for you may be decided on your personal medical history. In other cases, it may be something of a toss up. If that is the case, your surgeon is still your best source and the one that can share his/her personal experience with both surgeries and the outcomes.

Either way, you're gonna love the new you!!

After a failed band I wasn't getting ANYTHING other than RNY....doc wanted to talk to me about sleeve just so I'd know all my choices but success rates are better with RNY...I've failed once, I wanted nothing but the best this time.

HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 210

I was gonna get lap band thinking rny was too extreme. After seeing my surgeon I knew I would be successful with the band cause I could imagine milkshakes to cheat the band. I needed a lifestyle change and rny forced me to change and that's awesome! It's the gold standard for a reason. If you look at long term success...keeping it off....that why I chose it.

My surgeon is great. I was going to do the band until I met with her. She was very honest and after the meeting I was more comfortable with the bypass
