Wow and I was about to try the zucchini lasagna lol I will avoid the eggplant then :) I Think so much if this I'd like learning all over again how to cook..how to live..it's trial and error I think

The zucchini one is delicious, just broil the zucchini a little first to dry it out a bit.

:-)

Thank u! My week is scheduled full but Fri I am taking off and taking a "me" day..haven't done that in forever..I live near the gulf and yet I never go to the beach. I'm taking Fri to enjoy some things. I'm just really on edge with my husbands health issues and this flipping surgerh he had to have and he flies to see a specialist next week. His whole military career has alot to do with how this 1 appointment goes and I feel so powerless. I miss my baby too and we have started doing face time while he is away at his grandparents.

That's great! I love Skype and face time. My sister is in Japan with my nieces and her husband, so we live on Skype. Enjoy the time at the beach, get a new swim suit too!

Let me tell ya, that news really takes a load off of my shoulders! Thanks for all the support! I honestly get more on here than in my "real life" here!

So glad your prayers have been answered! Now you can concentrate on your son and his healing as well as your own. Take the time and be well. Congratulations!!!

Hi everyone,

I'm Joyce and I am feeling like the old person in this group! You guys are so brave in taking on your lives before you get to the point of no return. That's the way I felt. I am 48 years old and had been comtemplating surgery for the past 4 years before I decided. When I finally decided, my doctor was like, I told you that you will never regret this decision. He said that, and I am taking his word for it! I haven't had any problems, except for an incident where I ate too much and threw up. I have a 25 year old daughter who just moved back home after graduating from college, she 's working and just bought her first car, so she's doing well. I am still trying to adjust to her being back home! She's my support system, though. I have always been heavier than most of my friends and all of my family. I am like some of you as I don't have a lot of photos before surgery, I hid myself very well. The final straw for me was looking at a family photo last Christmas. My entire family, siblings and parents, are all in the photo. I take up a considerable amount of the photo. Every time I look at that photo, I feel so many things. The one thing I felt the most was sadness. I finally diecided to bite the bullet and do it! I have been divorced for over 12 years and not dating because I am a workaholic, I stay away from people as much as possible. I teach students with mild-moderate disabilities, work with a young man who has Autism, and work part-time at Bath and Body works! Needless to say, I have mastered the art of being invisisble. Anyway, I am glad to have all of you and your support, I am so proud of all of you and how well you're doing. Keep up the good work!

Hi!

My name is Missy Brown. I turned 45 on Tuesday. The reason I had surgery is I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and the medicine made me gain weight. Then I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and between the fibro and arthritis it became difficult, no nearly impossible, to exercise and manage my daily life acticities. I quite my job, I couldnt do it.

I have been a nurse since I was 19.

I pretry much laid in bed for two years. I had no energy and was in alot of pain.

My rheumatologist said i was going to end up with a knee replacement because of the arthritis and the added weight within a year if I didnt lose weight.

So I decided on the RNY.

I have been married twice.

My first husband was my high school sweetheart. He was physically, mentally and emotionaly abusive. He was a big time cheater. The marriage lasted 14 years. I have 3 amazing children. Katie is 24 and is a nurse like her mom. Jenny is 20 and is the manager of Hertz car rental and Logan my boy is 19 and headed to the Navy.

I remarried and he was amazing until his 3 kids came to live with us. Our relationship became so toxic i tried to overdose on sleeping pills last april. I found God again and my life has been turned around.

I have 4 mini wiener dogs. I am still currently not working but so ready to go back.

I was highest weight 255 and last dr visit was 211.

I am so glad i am in the april group.

Oh i love skinny sex!

Hi, how is everyone doing?? I just sat down and read the last several pages of blogs. Wow, so much going on with everyone. Sorry to hear not all of it is good news. :(

I am doing well. Just graduated my youngest from high school and had her party this Sunday. I'm exhausted! The good news is that we head to Florida for a weeks vacation this Friday. I can hardly wait to have some downtime and get away from work for awhile.

Saw the nutritionist yesterday for my 8 week visit. She said I am doing well and am right on target for weight loss. Not enough lbs for me, but I will take her word for it. According to her scale, I am steadily losing fat weight, so that is good. The scale just is not going down quickly. Next month I get my first labs. I hope everything looks good when I get my blood work.

If anyone is looking for recipes, I have a Board on Pinterest under JaniceE-. Don't forget the dash after the E. There are some bariatric recipes on my Board, and I am regularly adding more when I have time to surf the web for them.

I am eating about 550-750 calories a day. I log everything on MyFitnessPal. I still cannot tolerate eggs, fish, or chicken so it is really hard to get all my Protein in with food. I am getting tired of the Protein Drinks and can no longer tolerate drinking one every day. I have a Liquid Protein I ordered from Wellesse.com that has 10 grams of protein for two tablespoons, so I usually do that once a day to increase my protein intake. My nutritionist said I should be consuming 80 grams of protein a day by now, and I am only doing about 47-50. She said to add 100 calories of nuts to my diet a day. It is still a challenge to drink 80+ ounces of Water a day, but I work on it hard, especially now that the weather is so hot.

Good luck to all of the April surgeries! Please post any food ideas. I am getting tired of eating the same things every day.

Joyce: I am 53, so now you don't need to feel like the old lady of the group. Hah! I am excited about focusing more on my own health in the future now that my children are older.

Pre-surgery Weight: 299 lbs. Surgery weight: 262 lbs. Current weight: 235 lbs. Date of Surgery: 4/29/13

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
